Concerning secondary fermentation...
An overwhelming amount of info can be found in this thread.
Many do not use a secondary. See the linked thread for dozens of pages of explanations and "back and forth".
Guess I'm trying to broaden their palletes and show them that beer can actually have a taste. Sometimes its successful, sometimes it's not. For the "nots", I'd like to keep the waste down.
The m3 bottles look promising. Just big enough for a good sample. Sounds like the m3 is carbonated, so the bottles must be rated OK for beer. I'll look for them. Thanks!
So then maybe I am being greedy with my beer?
I was really hoping to find 6 oz bottles. Spread out over a dozen friends or so, it could help save a few bottles in case some don't like it. They seem to become more valuable as the inventory dwindles.
I'll be glad to share with friends who...
I'm looking for small, sample sized bottles. Maybe 6 - 8 oz.
I'd like to bottle a few of these with each batch to allow friends to sample my beer. Some of them normally don't like anything with more flavor than Bud Lite, and I'd rather not waste a full 12 oz bottle in case they don't like...
Thanks, uniondr.
Do you also transfer through the spout?
It sounds like spraying with starsan pre/post sample (and again pre-transfer) would keep the spigot clean and sanitized. Just want to be sure so that I don't screw up a batch.
I also have mine wrapped with plastic wrap, so that...
My original question focused on sanitizing the spigot before transferring.
Another quick question...
While the batch is fermenting, can I pull gravity samples from the spigot or would this contaminate the spigot for when I am ready to transfer?
I've searched past threads and have seen...
Camera UPDATE:
I doused the camera with rubbing alcohol. Cleaned all of the "sticky" from the exterior and poured the alcohol into every orifice and crack that I could find. Then, let it dry.
When I reinserted the battery, it powered up just long enough for the lense to finish retracting...
You're right. I fished it out and pulled the memory card with lightning quick speed though!
It stayed powered up for a couple of seconds, but now it's just a sticky, gummed-up, winking, paper weight.
That's what crossed my mind as I looked down and could only see the strap rising above the surface of the wort.
This was worse than dropping something into water. VERY sticky!
I did save the memory card!
