    Electric Mashtun heating

I've been trying to figure out a good way of doing step mashes for a long time. Adding hot water works but is in my opinion troublesome. I brew with electricity and and indoors so i cant direct fire. Putting an element in my mash is also a no go obviously do to scorching. So im going to build a...

    Light Munich vs dark Munich?

Gambrinus makes a dark Munich at 30L, that may be what you have, its definitely not a crystal malt and needs to be mashed. Its got a really great flavor to it, altho 3.5 lbs in that recipe is a bit excessive tho.

Fitting size for 1 barrel system?

Im using 1/2" hoses and fittings on my 1bbl system with march pumps and it works fine. Unless you replace your pumps, they will be your bottle neck. I personally dont think a 300-500 dollar pump is worth shaving a minute or two off your transfer times. However, when i switch over to tri clamp...

    Keg and carb question !!

My pipeline is such that i dont get around to my beers until they are at least a month old and at least 2-3 weeks cold conditioned. Thus i dont like to wait any longer and have perfected the shake the keg method. I hook my co2 line to the beer out side of the keg, it makes little bubbles at the...

Need advice on drilling out holes for a keggle

I've always used a 7/8" bi-metal holesaw for my keggle fittings. I've gone through 3/16" thick stainless with hole saws.

Show us your sculpture or brew rig

Heres my new system, the kettle was a piece of stainless pipe that i welded a bottom on. I did a 26 gallon batch with it this past monday and it all went pretty good. Got a few more things to tweak and add though.

Can i use copper graded for 150 deg. In wort chiller

I wouldnt worry about it, coppers melting point is almost 2000f so your boiling wort isnt even coming close to hurting it.

    Welding two sanke kegs together??

Ya, that keg needs some explanation. All i can think right now is what were they smokin when they decided to do that.

    Welding two sanke kegs together??

So, being a welder i dont see there being any difficulty in welding two kegs together except. Iv noticed kegs do have a bit of a taper to them at certain junctions, they arnt perfectly cylindrical so mating them up will be the trick. Thats the only issue id see. Also as onehoppyguy mentioned...

    mashing less grain

So you will be mashing 5-6 lbs of grain in a 5 gallon cooler? No problem, i run 10lbs of grain in my 13 gallon keg mashtun for my 5 gallon experimental batches. I just wouldnt run a full volume sparge through that much grain, might extract tannins and what not.
