    Speidel Braumeister (brewmaster)

Folks, In search of an opinion on the Braumeister use indoors. Not sure if this was covered yet in this super long thread. I have the option of running this thing either in my laundry room or kitchen or garage (Having my house re-wired shortly considering 220v in the garage). How much...

    Is This Temperature Controller Overkill?

Won't ordering one from Northern Brewer end up costing more with delivery and potentially customs duties/brokerage fees? BTW where locally did you see the temperature control devices for sale that you mention? I am in the Toronto area and I am looking to purchase a temperature controller.

    Lets send CRAIGTUBE some beer!

BTW what store is it that you guys go to? I am pretty familiar with Hamilton and know all about Brew Time, but I have a feeling its not Brew Time.

    Lets send CRAIGTUBE some beer!

Too right... Isn't it kind of funny that one of the most popular homebrewers, at least in internet-land is Craigtube? A guy that brews using coopers kits. A guy that may be more responsible than any other person out there in getting more people into the hobby? Palmer, Zainasheff, Craigtube ?

    Lets send CRAIGTUBE some beer!

Another issue is the fact that you would be sending alcohol over the border, and here in Canada that is frowned upon. I assume Craig would either be taxed heavily on it, or it would be dumped if the authorities ever found out since its not commercial beer. Canada is kind of sad when it comes to...

    Just purchased "Brewing Classic Styles"

Good idea, but don't be worried, I am sure the recipes from the book will turn out fine, probably better since the ingredients will be fresh as you purchase them when you are ready to brew, as opposed to kits, where who knows how long that stuff has been sitting on the shelves. BTW pages...

    Just purchased "Brewing Classic Styles"

Like other posters have mentioned, there is a section where he talks about how to scale these recipes to partial boils, as he is aware that most beginners don't own a keggle, also partial boils are easier/quicker to chill without a chiller. All the recipes I believe are 7 gallon boils, with 6...

I am not sure if Ein Stein had grain when I was there, which would have been back in December. They do carry other items such as oatmeal, Flaked Wheat, wheat malt chocolate and black malt. They sell you bulk hops as well. There is no liquid yeast in the place that I am aware of. They only seem...

Yes that is Randy, and that is his house. He has his supplies in the back. I have been in there a couple of times, but as mentioned earlier I was there to pick up orders that I placed online. And yes he is a very helpful guy.

    Turkey Fryer or Keggle

Due to many reasons such as having a glass top stove and infant learning to walk in the house, I am in the process of moving my brewing outside. Originally I had the idea of buying a turkey fryer (30 QT), but like everything else in this hobby I see myself upgrading and moving on to All Grain...

Although I bought my starter kit at Soda Centre, I avoid the place now like the plague. Its the only thing I have ever bought off them. A buddy of mine goes there quite often since he lives out that way. I think thats what they rely on, the fact that they are the only ones in the east end of the...

There is absolutely nothing to be scared of. Just Declare Everything you have with you. It will be up to the discretion of the Customs Officer if you will be charged duties and taxes. Duties are usually never charged if you declared your goods. Also since most homebrew supplies are made in...

I have a solution for the shipping, I use a service called CBI. You can google it to get the address. Basically they are located in Niagara Falls New York (5 mins from the Rainbow Bridge) and they accept any package that you have shipped to them. Then you go to their warehouse and pay $5 a box...
