    2017 Eclipse Brew Day

I searched but didn't see a thread about brewing this day. I'm just curious who will be off of work, brewing a batch of homebrew, and enjoying the phenomenon. I had some Chinooks finish up a little early on the bines. Just a simple 8% IPA will do for me. Any one else like the idea of an...

    Cleaning lingering flavor

ooooo... thats a tough call. Peachy Porter... hmm.. might be good. Glass does not hold any "scents" maybe keep the bucket for cider and get either another bucket for beer only or glass carboy. Or maybe bucketnative's idea would work.. try that or use Oxy-clean Free...

i'm just gonna say. i have used 8oz of cocoa powder before and it was a mess. you might want to secondary, then cold crash to get as much of that powder out.

    2016 Hop Growing Thread

Chinook, about ready to harvest.. getting close. Thinking them cicada were drilling holes in the main stalks.. altho i got a decent amount this year,, i think they had something to do with why i have less. A few of them never reached full height and browned off about two or three feet from the...

    Belle Saison ideal temperature range?

jplowe - i totally agree. WLP 565 seems much tastier when 80+ deg. I have went as high as 86 at times with this yeast and never had any strange batches. Belgian Strong & Saison's for me. i love them funky flavors :) :)

    McCormick Extract and Citric Acid

It turned out great. Quite simple it ends up. My ingredients: 5 gallons of double charcoal filtered tap water. 9 cups of cane sugar (adjust to your liking.. 8-10 cups. I feel anymore than 10 might be a bit much). 3 (1oz.) bottles of McCormick Raspberry extract. 30-40 grams of Citric Acid. (i...

    Water Conservation When Brewing

I use my pool. 17,000 gallons of water never runs out... goes in chiller.. goes back in pool.. not that water is an issue here. I've had to drain my pool three times this year already. it gets above the skimmer and flows out. When this happens,, I brew a batch, but let the water run onto the...
