    Where is Mosaic?!

Found this great hop chart with flavor/aroma profiles: http://hopschart.com/images/hopschart_render.jpg However, despite offering a diverse range of hops, Mosaic is not included. I noticed this on the TastyBrew recipe calculator as well. There's at least 25-30 different hops listed but...

    Bottling before two weeks

How cold is your freezer? I thought ales had to ferment around 60-70*F

Looks like I'm buying a hydrometer. Thanks for the help all.

    Bottling before two weeks

Could you elaborate on what a "yeast starter" is? Never heard that term. Also, in regards to over/under pitching, I typically buy 11g of SafAle-05 and was told to use about 1/3rd per gallon batch (approx. 3.5 g). I don't have a hydrometer yet so I'm not sure how to tell whether that is too...

    Bottling before two weeks

How crucial is it to let your beer ferment for a full two weeks in primary? I'm aware it's dependent on the style and many other things. But the recipe in my first kit said two weeks in primary so ever since then I've followed that as a standard. However, each batch I've brewed (all 1 gallon...

    Batch size vs. Boil volume

Great reply. That's exactly what I needed to know. Cheers!

    Batch size vs. Boil volume

So the boil volume doesn't include the sparge? (I guess that's why they call it the "boil" volume?) Also, are you suggesting the volume of water during the boil should be 2.5-3 gallons? That's seems excessive for a 1 gallon batch. I've never used more than 2 gallons (including the sparge) and...

    Batch size vs. Boil volume

Every time I use a brew calculator for a 1 gallon batch, I input 1.00 gallon for batch size and 2.00 for boil volume. I'm assuming this is correct, considering I use roughly two gallons of water during the mash/sparge. However, I've seen some recipes where , for example, the batch size is 5...

    Brewing with Mt. Hood

First and foremost, is Mt. Hood comparable to Hallertauer? Second, can it be used in APAs? Third, when would be the best time in the boil to use it when brewing an APA?

    Belgan aromatic vs aromatic

I was plugging in recipes using the calculator at tastybrew.com (a recipe calling for aromatic malts) and the only "aromatic" option in the drop down menu was "Belgian aromatic". Are there multiple versions of aromatic? Or are they the same thing?

    Using noble hops in APA/IPA

Thanks for the replies! I'm trying to brew a daisy cutter clone (or something similar) Here is my recipe so far (for 1gallon) Grain: 1.85 Two-row pale .05 Victory .05 Aromatic .05 Special Roast Hops: (Still working on this) Warrior (bittering) Ahtanum/Sterling/Palisade/Amarillo...

    Using noble hops in APA/IPA

What's the general consensus on using noble hops in APAs/IPAs? Haven't seen many recipes that do. Is there a reason for this? I was planning on brewing a super floral APA and was thinking about using a combination of ahtanum, palisade, and sterling. Anyone have any experience brewing ales...
