Well, I thought I'd update this post with some information. I finally bottled it and let it condition. I still plan on letting it sit for a couple weeks, but I thought I would try one just to see if it was still good. I thought it tasted kind of rough, but I hope that's just due the the lack of...
I haven't heard of starsan but I'll have to check it out. I ended up cutting myself trying to figure out a way to sanitize my filler in idophor and went berserker. Long story short I just rinsed them out with hot water from the tap and boiled the caps. Should be fine.....hopefully. Now I just...
Ah alright well I did spray the bottling bucket down because I splashed some concentrated Iodophor towards the top of the bucket by accident but I didn't fill it up or anything like that. Hopefully I didn't mess anything up.
Alright awesome. I just hear iodine and think I need to rinse this stuff 5 times and make sure it doesn't touch anything. I assumed it was overreacting though. lol
Well to keep it simple, I just wanted to double check to make sure I used the idophor right. I decided to just fill the bottling bucket with the concentration it recommended and just kill two birds with one stone by soaking the bottles in it. But then it hit me that I had the solution sitting in...
It was probably hitting it directly for a couple hours a day at least, and indirectly for the remainder of the day. I'm really hoping that it doesn't turn out to be skunked. :(
Well to put it simply, I have just been told that my beer has been fermenting in direct sunlight the past 3 days in my garage. (I work during the day so I never noticed myself)
I'm just curious, how bad is this beer probably going to taste now? It's been fermenting in a clear glass carboy, so...
Well the gravity seemed to be off by .1 I think which I'm hoping is not a big deal.
Everything else seemed to work out ok. The only other issues I ran into was figuring out how to get the boiling hot wort into the carboy and how to stir the yeast into the carboy. I ended up just cutting one of...
Alright I threw the water in the freezer so it should be at least slightly chilled and I didn't have any more dme so I hope it still ends up ok. Thanks for all the help guys, I seriously appreciate it :D
Alright phew. I guess I have another odd question. It says to use 4 gallons of cold water but all I have is room temperature. That should still be OK though right? Sorry about the newb questions.... I'm pretty much lost over here. :l thanks
Well, I managed to have a huge boil over after adding the malt extract for my first batch..... :( Any idea if it's still good even if I lost a good chunk of it and have to reheat it?
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Hi,
Sorry if this has been asked a million times but I was wondering if there's such a thing as it being too cold to ferment. I don't want to have it ferment in the house because I know people will complain about any kind of smell, so I was thinking about just having it ferment in my garage, but...
