    Distracted brewing

That's nothing! I just lost 3/4 gal of my first runnings cause I left the BK valve open and went inside the house after starting my fly sparge. I've got the hockey game on inside and I figured since my valves on the HLT and MLT were adjusted perfect (16oz/minute) I had plenty of time to watch...

    Beer Labelizer - Label Generator

Is there a certain label paper that works well with the size and shape of the oval label, or are you guys cutting out around the oval with scissors. I have a whole 5 gal batch of "It's A Boy" I did for a friend, and it seems like it would take forever and almost impossible to get them perfect...

    Maltodextrin Substitute?

I'm gonna do the boil down method this time and get some maltodextin for the next batch and compare the two. The only thing is, I'll have to adjust for pulling out a gal from the first runnings and it'll be hard to recreate w/out doing so and truly compare the two. Oh well, RDWHAHB, right? BTW...

    Maltodextrin Substitute?

I'm actually brewing BM's black pearl porter https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f126/black-pearl-porter-ag-24243/. It calls for maltodextrin and lactose in the boil. I'm already using flaked oats in the mash. I don't really want to change the grain bill, that's why I'm looking for a substitute in...

    Maltodextrin Substitute?

I'm brewing a porter today and wanted to add maltodextrin but my LHBS doesn't keep a supply of the stuff and I was wondering what I can use as a substitute. Possibly: LME, Molasses, Maple Syrup, etc. I've never used maltodextrin before in a beer so I have no idea. However, I've taken a gal. of...

    empty airlock during secondary

Wet cardboard, huh? Guess I better start soaking them Nike boxes for a comparison. Hahaha. Seriously though, thanks. Ever since moving over to all-grain a couple of years ago, I'm always paranoid about something.

    empty airlock during secondary

Didn't know if I should ask this here, or in the sanitation area, but here goes. Just brewed a killer Pale. Primary fermentation went perfect, moved it over to secondary to clarify. I use a box made from foam insulation and add frozen 2 litre bottles since its too hot here to ferment in my...

    Amylase enzyme ???

Sorry, don't mean to side bust on this post, but, by adding amylase enzymes, do you mean adding a pre packaged product of some sort, or freshly extracted enzymes from a ultra small mash? The only reason I ask, is I have a stuck fermentation right now with a Strong Scotch and am researching how...
