Thinking about switching to e-BIAB with Brew-Boss

I got a Brew-Boss as an early x-mas present for myself. Purchased the whole system, kettle, controller, pump and tablet. Simple to set up, the APP is great. Took me a bit of playing around to fully understand all the functions in the APP and how to set up my run just the way I want it. I am...

    Keg pasteurize using my Keggle

I was hoping to kill off the yeast so that I do not have to keep the cider refrigerated. I am sure it would start fermenting if left at room temperature.

    Keg pasteurize using my Keggle

I have a cider that I am planning on back sweetening. So I would like to kill the yeast. I was thinking of transferring to the corney. Heating up water in my Keggle to 180 or so and dropping in the keg. Does anyone see a problem with this technique? I was thinking of doing a test run to...

Can I Top off a Keg?

And that is pretty much the answer I was looking for. I suspected as much. I figure a few more beers is a few more beers. Prolong that moment of disappointment for just a little while longer.

Can I Top off a Keg?

I should have specified it's starting gravity was high. The FG is right around where it should be. I am taking the beer camping over memorial day weekend. More beer at a slightly less ABV would be preferred.

Can I Top off a Keg?

So I brewed up a AG blackberry wheat. Last night I racked to the secondary and realized I was only had about 4.5g of beer. I was wondering if I would run into any issues if I boiled up a half gallon of water and added it when I went to keg? The beer ended up higher gravity anyways so I figure...

    Cold sparging, great results.

Well during the cold months I boil outside and mash inside. Filling from a garden hose to the kettle. Saving me from lugging around the water. So starting with the water from my hot water tank saves me that heat time on the cold tap water. I understand there are so many factors in beer...

    Cold sparging, great results.

How to Brew mentions that many home brewers skip the mash out with no consequences. And the Wiki says that it frees up to 2% more starch. Both mainly highlight the use of the mash out to be for making the Mash more fluid. Either way I am of a thought that if it makes my brew day simpler and I...

    Cold sparging, great results.

So the other day I decided to try cold sparging. Well I guess it is not really cold sparging as I was using Hot tap water. I have a hot water tank that is heated off of my boiler. The temp out of the tap is around 130. I did my normal brew day with the exception of not heating my sparge...

    25,000 gal IC

Fill a winpak and toss it in your pool. Those things seal up so you don't have to worry about spillage. May try that once my pool is open.

    Cold water sparge

I know I am digging up an old thread here. Has anyone researched any further into this? I think I may give this a try myself. Although i think I will use hot tap water. I have a hot water tank, where the water is heated off the boiler. Which I have tasted with no off flavors. If I can skip...

No Chill, Cold Sparging, and FWH

I do not know the answer to the utilization question. But you could always collect the 1st runnings in its own container. Add the FWH and let it sit in the warm wart while collecting the sparge runnings separate. That way if utilization is an issue with the cooler/cold wart as a result of the...

    beersmith pros, i gotta question

I really love the beersmith software, but I have never went by there water volumes for batch sparging. I always just heat up extra water in my HLT, then measure my first runnings. Since I know what I want my pre-boil volume to be, I just subtract my first runnings. Then I split the difference...

    Age of Freezer

Free is Free in my opinion. If it works right now, who cares if it breaks in a month or 10 years. Only thing I would have reservations about is building a large scale project around it. Where if it does break and need replacing finding another with the same exact dimensions might be difficult.

    Easy labeling (Carboys/Kegs): Strung Tags

Maybe this is nothing new, but I have not stumbled upon anyone using these so far. I work at a car dealership and every vehicle that comes in for service has these put onto the keys. I realized how use full they could be in tracking my brews...
