Thanks gregger!! You have been very helpful. I thought I read on wiki somewhere about a month ago that the 70's they made whiskey that was 'semi-toxic' tasting. lol. I now have to convince my dad to open the darn thing to see if it is any good. My grandparents gave it to him and he doesn't...
I might add that this bottle came from a woman's home that my grandparents looked after. This was around 2004-05 when she passed away at the age of 90? From what I understand, my grandparents never saw her drinking. So I honestly have no idea how old it COULD be.
Thank you guys for the responses!!! The bottom of the bottle reads as such - First line: L-92540A; Second line: 9 ::anchor symbol:: 76 (Year?); Third line: 3
As for labels, there is VERY little written on it. Back says:
"Blended Whiskey
20% straight whiskies
4 years old
20% Whiskies

I have found a bottle of whiskey that I would love to have some information about if anyone can help. It is an Old Mr. Boston Brand Rocking Chair Deluxe Label Blended Whiskey. It is eighty proof (stated on the neck). It is not a mini bottle, but not a handle.
I tried to do some searches for...
Only way to learn is jump in head first. Go to your LHBS and explain what you are looking for. They should be able to point you to a good recipe to fit your taste. If you don't have one close, then you can search the forum recipe page and order online...or order a recipe kit. As far as...
If you use the search function on the forum, you will find countless threads on keeping your temps. lower through fermentation/conditioning. However it sounds as if you are doing the right thing with the wet towel and fan. You need to get a stick on thermometer for you caraboy. That way you...
I agree with Revvy, you will find a lot of info in a search. I do however leave almost every beer I make in the primary for 3 weeks. Many of them for longer, and just skip a secondary. GL :mug:
i just got back from Europe and I am druk. I don't know about the rest of y'all but it is great to be home. It got really sick of living out of a suit case. But I have some great pics of beer...i hope to get them up. Oh sorry I havent been around. But I read a few brew books while on the...
I bought the oaked porter from AHB and it says nothing about sanitizing the oak cubes. I have not opened the original bag yet, so would it really be a bad idea to just add them directly to the brew?
i know people have done this without causing any off flavors. Just make sure you do it at the end of the process. For instance, put a small drop into each bottle.
I know many of us use this method, however in a much smaller setting. A blowoff tube into a bucket/container of sanitizer is essentially the same as a blowoff. Good luck, and be sure to tell us the results if you go through with it.
