Took first in both Sour categories in Tampa. Was bummed I had to ship beers so far this year, but now I'm glad I did!

I have a batch at around a year. Spent the entire time in a better bottle. It smells amazing - lots of dark cherry notes, but only has the sour level of something like an Petrus Oud Bruin. It's also quite dry, so I wonder if there's much left for the bugs to chew on. I'm thinking I might add...

It looks like I may have access to a university lab, and my friend - a micro-biologist to help build these up, and also store them. I've never spent any time in a lab, so I'm pretty excited about that. I also have 20 1-gallon jugs ready to go.

That's very cool. What would be your process of stepping up the starter to pitchable amount for a larger batch? Same as any other starter?

I was also a little underwhelmed by pro-night. Then club night happened... then I was really underwhelmed by pro-night. I will give it up to Dogfish Head. Sam shows up, with a some pretty rare offerings. To me it shows he still gets it, as hasn't forgotten about his roots.

Agreed, Judging seemed to go very smoothly. Wasn't thrilled with the use of check box judging sheets, but I get why they chose them. I certainly still took advantage of the small comment spaces on a lot of the entries I judged.

That's awesome. it was a stellar beer. Also got to purchase some ECY strains while drinking it, so that was a plus!

Amazing time. Made it back to CT in one piece. Club night was epic - it was overwhelming in fact. I just walked around and looked at the lists... stuck to lower ABV stuff, and sours. The Boston club had a tremendous geuze on cask. Our little club (M.A.S.H from Clinton, CT) were very outclassed...

Is bruclear your club name? If so - pouring at club night? Hoping to see (drink...) some sours that evening. I'm bringing a blackberry berliner weiss with me to pour at club night. Might have to see what else is hanging around in my cellar as well, for random sharing.
