I've been working on my beer-geek status for a couple years now, trying as many beers and styles as I can. I can't really say I have a favorite style, but I seem to gravitate towards darker and/or stronger styles - either in alcohol or just flavor/bitterness.

I got my first kit for my birthday in November '11 - a nice, deluxe kit with most of what I'll need to keep me going for a while. It came with an American IPA kit, which I'm in the process of fermenting right now...

I hope to learn something with every batch and become a part of the homebrewer community, which seems pretty awesome.
