04 has always been my go to yeast for my RIS. A couple packets should work nicely. Just keep those temps in check :)
The last one I did started at 1.096 and finished at 1.024 with 2 packets of 04
Yeah you will want a 20 gallon. I got a 25 gallon and that allowed me to do 15 gallon batches. 20 should give you enough room for the extra wort prior to boiling and also space to prevent boil overs
rlightner, Thanks again for such a useful site. I have another brew of my fermenting and the Tilt linked to Brewstat.us
Love watching on the site instead of a spreadsheet and great to share the link with family in Texas. They can't drink the beer but at least they watch it ferment :)
For my grapefruit IPA I take 4 grapefruits and zest them. Then I collect all the zest and put it in a glass bowl with some vodka to kill any germs. I let that sit for a day or two. Then I add the zest and vodka along with my dry hops to the fermenter and let it sit for a couple days before...
I use my old smartphone with my Tilt to transmit my data to the cloud. I also no longer use the google spreadsheet and instead log all my data to the recipe itself with www.brewstat.us
The phone just sits by my ferm chamber and transmits to the cloud so I end up with a nice detailed graph...
I recently found out about this site from a friend. Currently uploading all my recipes and have had no issues linking my Tilt. Works great and is much nicer to look at than my google docs for Tilt
I have brewed this twice so far, both times without any fermentation control other than the temps in my basement. Now I have a fermentation chamber and want to try again. I currently have a Hazelnut Toffee Porter that is finishing up and I used Nottingham for it. We will see how this does after...
I just finished my chest freezer fermentation chamber recently. Got a 5 cu ft freezer when it was on sale at home depot for a little over $100 with sale and coupon. I used the Inkbird on both my Keezer and Ferm chamber and it works great. I use a big mouth bubbler with a spigot so I got a...
One of the best beers I make is my pumpkin ale. I take about 60 ounces of Libbie's pumpkin puree (un-spiced, you will add spices to the boil) or 2 of the large cans, open them and spread the pumpkin out in a thin layer over a baking sheet. cook for 45 minutes at 350 degrees to really get a...
I also have this problem with my android app. I will notice after awhile the screen will be blank white, or the app has not updated in awhile. I have to reset my bluetooth and it works fine after that. So far that is my only issue.
Contact the Brewometer team. Swings that wide in temp and gravity do not sound right. Mine has worked great for 4 batches now. The gravity swing is just a point or two and temp is always spot on.
