    I can tell you that it took me quite a while before I was making beer that I would serve to friends. I probably brewed for close to a year before I was making beer I was comfortable sharing.

    Another vote for Troegs. Great brewery. Yards isn't half bad either. Weyerbacher is pretty decent.

    Glassware / Barware

    What's the bad taste? If you can describe it then it will be easier to figure out the source.

    I am thinking about giving up.

    I would suggest simplifying your set up and shopping around for good prices. I don't think my setup cost more than $300 for 5 gallon batches.

    I would definitely recommend Troeg's Perpetual IPA or even better Nugget Nectar. Two great IPAs and you can support a PA brewery.

    Did I just ruin my first batch?

    Yeah, you definitely ruined it. Too bad. Just kidding.:tank: Most of the sanitizers are "no rinse" solutions. If a little sanitizer gets in your wort it won't hurt anything.

    which pot to get, can't decide

    I had a porcelain pot and it was chipped after the first use, so I don't think a new one will last a long time. I would stick with the aluminum or find a SS pot.

    It's probably a good idea to re-sanitize. It certainly won't hurt anything.

    Double Bag is one of my favorites! Unfortunately, I'm not really able to critique your recipe, but I'd love to know if it turns out anything like Double Bag. If it does I'll be giving this recipe a go too!:mug:

    Let it sit another week or two and then check the SG again.
