I have done this several times with great success. Last Summer I fermented a wheat beer totally by tossing in fresh picked blueberries. I am now using this yeast for the 4 the generation.
I have been doing something like this for my 15 gallon conical. I have a stainless tubing coil attached to the lid. I pump ice water through it from a cooler sitting on the floor. I use an STC-1000 controller which cycles the pump off and on.
I have been experimenting with wild yeast for the past year. Early Spring 2012 I captured yeast from under a friends pear tree with some 10.35 wort. At the same time I captured yeast on my deck under some herb plants. Over 6 months I built up both samples until I had about an inch of slurry...
I have a Berliner Weisse I made 4 months ago and pitched a huge Lacto starter along with White Labs Sour Mix. The OG was 1.035 and I just tasted it and it is very tart and the taste is fantastic. I was getting ready to bottle it but decided to check the gravity and it is at 1.009 which is...
I must admit that I am in the industrial woodworking business and have several CNC machines. So I just wrote the programs and ran the parts on my CNC machine. We did some jobs in plastic for a customer and had lots of left over plastic. Actually it is HDPE. Very tough stuff. Most of my...
I am in the process of making an improvment wtih a longer air cylinder. But it is a simple stand I made with some left over plastic. On this one there is a T section made that holds a 10" drawer slide. At the top is an air cylinder that is attached to the CPBF that I already had. I put a T...
I was always getting tired of holding my counter pressure filler in place and just having to stand there. So I built this filler stand. I also built the capper after bottling over 100 bottles one afternoon. By the end of that day my wrist hurt so bad. This almost makes bottling fun.
I had seen this a long time ago but forgot where it was. This is pretty much what inspired me to come up with my project. On the other hand, The cool factor of using Co2 to power an air cylinder is way cooler than a spring.
That could be a great idea, but it really is easy to press down on the fender washer to compress the spring. It does not take much pressure to hold the stopper in the bottle. But I have been thinking about a much more complicated fun idea. I am thinking about using a 10" air cylinder that is...
I looked at your fancy bottling station. It looks great, but yes, mine is much less complicated. I have 2 fender washers, one on each side of the spring. I just compress the top fender washer down and slide under the slot in the top plate.
