I heard the same as you and interpreted it as a 10-15 ibu 60 minute addition. I believe one of the other brewers mentioned an 8-10 ibu bittering addition.

Anyone know what strain BSI A-72 is? Interesting to hear that Fidens house strain isn’t one of the common NEIPA strains.

What water profile should I be aiming for on a low ABV offering? With Summer starting this weekend I want to brew something more sessionable and maximise drinkability. Looking at something around 4.5%ABV.

Or 3.87g/L for us using the metric system.

This was only the second time I’ve used this variant so I’m not too well versed in its performance so far. The Grainfather S40 has a 3 degree temp range so that could be a factor. I use Celsius so 3C is a pretty large range. The yeast tolerance is 9.5%, so that could also have been a factor...

2.25:1.75:1.0 ratio between Nelson: Motueka: Citra. Obviously not a perfect figure, I just based it off what info the internet gave on total oil content of each hop.

    This one was 21g/L.

Super Potion - 9.5% ABV. Imperial IPA with Citra, 2023 Motueka & 2023 Nelson Sauvin. Fermented with Raw Orange Blossom Honey. 31 days since brew day. This beer is fantastic! Like, it genuinely holds up with some of the best beers I’ve tried. Quite comfortably the best beer I’ve ever brewed, and...

Usually takes me about an hour. You could purge a LOT of kegs.

Yeah one thing they didn’t really touch on in this episode is the fermentation process. I’m using BSY-A011, basically a London Ale III variant from an Australian Yeast Manufacturer called Bluestone.

I got 68% mash efficiency on this one. I was expecting around 65%. It was only my second brew on my new S40 and the 2nd time I’ve used my new mill so I’m still trying to understand the equipment. I mashed a tad lower as I was expecting poorer efficiency. Looking like it will be around 9.5%.

I decided to be the Guinea Pig for the Brujos style brew today. Mashed 12.5kg @ 150F into my Grainfather S40. Pushed it to its absolute limit. 35% Extra Pale Pilsner 65% Combination of Oats & Wheat. Heavier on the Oats. 1.20qt/lb water/grain ratio. I used my whirlpool paddle attachment with...

Lately I’ve been fermenting LA3 at 64 and found that I get a lot more hop expression. I’ve tried it at all different temps but found that I actually really like it the colder I go. I was using the Omega variant for quite a while as I’ve found it attenuates a bit better than the Wyeast version...

I visited the United States back in April and went to the OH taproom in Brooklyn. They had All Nectaron Everything on draft there so I ordered a glass. To me it was pure marijuana. It was the dankest beer I’ve ever smelled and tasted.
