    Loral Hops (HBC 291)

Potentially Ella...but I think It'd be best replicated as a combo. Being that Loral is a combo of Lemon & Floral (new world hop/old world hop), I would assume Lemon Drop & Hallertau (or something noble).

    Loral Hops (HBC 291)

To me it's very resinous like Chinook but more fruity. Citra doesn't have the resin and is almost sweet and fruity. YMMV, but if you're wanting to experience Loral with Ekuanot, I don't know that you'll taste it.

    Loral Hops (HBC 291)

I'd stick with Loral/Citra. Personally have used Ekuanot a few times and enjoy it, but it's pretty pungent. Loral is more delicate and think it'd be lost.

    Loral Hops (HBC 291)

Awesome, can't wait to hear about it. I re-brewed my all Loral Pils and it won it's category for Mixed Style Beer at a recent competition. Love this hop. Now I want to figure out good hop combos for it...

    Loral Hops (HBC 291)

Good to know. The judge thought the soapiness was from lipids and too much trub. Don't think a bit of trub really changes beer that much, but seems to confirm that it is indeed the hops. Maybe what comes off as floral to me, comes off as soapy to others. Or my palate is not refined, probably the...

    Loral Hops (HBC 291)

Update to my SMaSH Pils above. Blind tasters have absolutely loved this beer. But...entered it in NHC regionals and was dinged (fully expected) for not being close enough to style. One thing in common was soapiness/suntan lotion in the aroma/flavor. I didn't pick that up, but figured I'd at...

    Loral Hops (HBC 291)

Makes sense. Next I'll have to try something with a tad more malt character from a bit of Munich/Vienna and throw some Citra in. Appreciate the insight!

Interesting. What do you mean by light?

    Loral Hops (HBC 291)

Just kegged my SMaSH (Loral-HBC 291) German Pils. Flavor at kegging was very nice...citrus/floral/earthy with similar aromas. Seemed to be accurate to descriptors by the hop breeders and starts off with a hint of citrus before moving into more typical noble hop finish. Incredible flavor and...

    Anyone brew with hop hash?

Added 2oz (dry hop) Simcoe Hop Hash to a Black IPA last month. Amazing. IMO if you use them for anything other than whirlpool/dry hop you're boiling off all the goodness.

    Hop Hash ??

I would dry hop with them since they're supposed to be all about the extra oils/volatiles. Past December I added 2oz (about 4 days dry hop) of Simcoe hop hash to a 6% Black IPA. Turned out incredible and was extremely citrusy but smooth. Only problem was they clogged my dip tube, first time...

    Propane burner for a keggle

When I made my jump to a keggle as a boil kettle I asked Santa for a Blichmann high-legged floor burner. Tons of heat (plenty close to bottom of pot), quiet, sips very little propane, and able to gravity drain directly from the kettle into carboy with the extended legs.

70 Qt. Cooler with false bottom

I switched everything of mine over to BIAB in a cooler (no more false bottoms and immediately clear wort draining with no vorlauf needed and easy cleanup). Here's my 70-qt bulkhead setup with dip tube for the trough space.

    2.5 Gallon Keg System

If you can find the older 3-gal American made kegs with one black handle I'd recommend those. Built like a tank and usually cheaper than new 2.5-gal kegs. Check Craigslist.
