    Dry-hop "floties" in keg

So I brewed up Tasty Mc D's Janet's Brown (absolutely delicious), racked into secondary for dry hopping(2oz Centennial/5gal), cold crashed in carboy for 6 days, then kegged. After about a week the beer was perfect. Huge hop aroma and malt flavor and great clarity! Got a new Blichmann beer gun...

    Reducing trub from fermenter

I think I am going to need to give this a shot! Looked at Jamils recirculating chiller and that just might work. I think I like the idea of the immersion a little better then the counter flow. Now I just need to find a deal on some 1/2" copper pipe so I can build a larger chiller. Thanks...

    Reducing trub from fermenter

On a side note, I am really surprised how much has already settled out already. I just assumed that once the yeast really went to work it was going to be some time before things really settled out. I guess I forgot rule #1 of homebrewing. RDWHAHB!!

    Reducing trub from fermenter

I do hear what your saying, and I appreciate the response. Just trying to find a better method w/o racking from vessel to vessel. I use an immersion chiller, so I am letting everything settle out for close to 40 minutes already. I just figured someone may have been using a different method...

    Reducing trub from fermenter

So I am still struggling to reduce the amount of trub from entering my fermenter. At this point I am just using a piece of copper pipe angled to pick up from the side, but I am getting a crazy amount of trub in my fermenter. Whirl pooling by means of a spoon is damn near impossible with the...

    Dry hop in primary

So I have always racked off my beer to secondary then dry hopped my beer for 4-6 days. With all this talk about finishing off your beer in the primary vessel, I am wondering how everybody is dry hopping their beer. I just assumed that all the hop pellets would sink and just blend in with the...

Seltzer/Carbed H2O on tap? Anyone know?

Why so much line? Is it a long draw? What does the extra line do?

Seltzer/Carbed H2O on tap? Anyone know?

I just built a keezer and want to dedicate 1 of my 4 lines to carbonated water. I have to imagine someone here has tried this before. -Is there any special equipment I need? -Would I carb it up the same way I would beer? -What pressure would I need to set to keep it Carbonated? I was told by...

    Cooler Mash Tun build

I was planning on using a hacksaw to make the slits, but I bet a Dremel would make better looking cuts. I would love to see a pic of yours, if you have one.

Thanks. Understood. I will be sure the few parts I do solder are lead free. Didn't even think about that. Cheers!

How is everyone here keeping hops and hot break from fermenter?

If you go on his site and look under Kettle Design in the left column, you will see photos of his design. He is selling them via a link at $60, or $90 for all stainless. Essentially, it looks like a dip tube and a large piece of stainless mesh that is shaped to fit the bottom of the kettle...

How is everyone here keeping hops and hot break from fermenter?

I think Kal said it doesn't work because the element gets in the way, or hinders the whirlpool effect. I plan on adding a large screen type filter over the dip tube in the future. I am just concerned that all the break material will clog it now where I am using an immersion chiller and not a...
