woo hoo ive waited 3 1/2 days and my first batch has finally started bubbling. im making a muntons conissuers range continental lager. i get about 1 bubble every 10 secs and wen i look under the lid i see a slight layer of foam. how long should i leave it in the fermenter before i bottle it?
im starting to freak out as its now gone 48 hours and it only has a slight bit of bubbles/foam on top that isnt anything dramatic. it smells of flat beer and im pretty sure it is airtight. cos when i push lid down air rushes into the airlock. i think it mite be a bit cold as i got in the garage...
i had some dry yeast which i had from an ingredient kit. i just bunged that in and stirred it in my fermenting bin when i had it all filled up with water. was i meant to do sumthing else?
how do i siphon my beer into a bottling bucket. and also do i need to use a bottling bucket cant i just not use 1 and siphon straight into bottles. all i got at the moment is ferment bin and some tubing i dunno how to use the tubing
i have a fermenting bin 25 litres that had a twist on cap. i wanted to know if there is anyway i could turn it into a keg by just maybe drilling a hole near the bottom and attaching a tap so that i could dispense beer straight from it. is this possible?
i dont get how im gonna be able to "siphon my beer into bottles" all i got is plastic tubing of about 2 metres long. im gonna use plastic bottles but wanna know how do i get beer to flow into the bottles through tube? cos when i put tube into beer it has to go upwards to get out of the beer...
put me first batch in and it aint doing anything in the airlock for 22 hours. shud i take a quick peek to see if anythings happening and wot should i see?
ive put my first batch in saturday 7pm and its now 5 oclock sunday and i aint seeing any air lock action. how long shud i w8 until i get suspicious. also i got a screw on lid fermenting bin which may not be airtight. is there anyway of finding out and is this important?
obviously me folks know and they also know tht its only a hobby and i wont get trashed all the time. maybe once a week or so. i just wanna make up sum recipes for a nice beer that i could fine tune. have some fun whilst doing it.
think about yeh and ull figure out that the only reason drink beer is because it has alcohol in it. would you bother making/drinking it if it didnt have any alcohol in it?
wots a really orignal, easy and quick beverage that i shud make for my first batch. i dont wanna screw my first batch up with a hard to do one as that will give me a bad reputation with future potential drinkers of my beer. so give me sum expert opininon..... plz
