Can I heat my beer with fish tank heater?

I promise not to drag this on any further except to say that the reason "I do it my way" is because I bottle from a spigot and a bottling tube. I would need to lift the fermenter out of the water bath and risk stirring up the settled yeast if I used the water bath method. This is not relevant...

Bleach stain On a counter top?

I'm guessing she would notice if you bleached the whole surface. :o How big is the stain? Perhaps you could cover it with a towel and then put the fermenter etc on top. It might buy you some time. Setup another "accident" so that she causes another spill of bleach onto the surface. If...

    Bad ass Fermenter hasles

Your recipe: Is different from the recommended and perhaps that may be contributing to the issue. If I recall correctly the standard recipe is: 1 1.7kg can of Cooper's Lager concentrate 1kg of Dextrose or alternatives 2 litres of very hot (boiling water) When mixed: make volume up...

Can I heat my beer with fish tank heater?

Here are some pictures of my heater setup. The first picture shows the stopper that I use when I don't need the heater. The red knob on the top of the heater unit is a dial for the thermostat range from 16 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees. I have not shown how I apply the cling...

Can I heat my beer with fish tank heater?

I use a basic home brew kit. The volume I make is 23 litres. I will get organised with some pictures for you. It might have to be tomorrow. A rule of thumb for aquarium heaters in 1.5 watts for every liter (in an aquarium.) 50 watts is plenty for 23 litres of wort for my laundry environment.

Can I heat my beer with fish tank heater?

I use an aquarium heater in the wort. To do this I've used a hole saw to cut a hole big enough to allow the passage of the heater thorough the lid of my fermenter. I cut the plug off the power cord and passed it through a rubber stopper that plugs the hole and used silicon to seal and...

Beer Fetching Robot. I want one!

The robot idea has reminded me of an old joke. A man comes home from an exhausting day at work, plops down on the couch in front of the television, and tells his wife, "Get me a beer before it starts." The wife sighs and gets him a beer. Fifteen minutes later, he says, "Get me another beer...

    Brewing on a Sailboat....

I think your problem will require a personal solution. I would be happy for you to fly me to your boat. I will help drink your beer and tell you if it is OK. I am willing to stay so that we can see if the subsequent batches maintain the standard too. :drunk: I think your boat may be too...

Beer Fetching Robot. I want one!

While you dismissed the child labour idea I have had good success with it. My younger daughter was able to recognise her name (written) before she was 3 years old. A popular lager here is called Victoria Bitter. I took very little effort to teach Victoria to "go and get Dad something with...

    Coopers Carbonation drops

I'm sorry but I can not find a link with a picture. The scoop is available at many homebrew supply shops and online stores. It is known as a "priming scoop" or less accurately as a sugar scoop. Look in the accessories area. The scoop resembles a tiny spirit measuring jigger. It has slots...

    Coopers Carbonation drops

I use the carbonation drops. They seem to provide a consistent amount of sugar for gassing the beer. Coopers and Morgans both supply an apparently identical product. Two drops (they look like sweets) added to the 740ml bottle after the beer, seal and invert a few times. What could be easier...

Coopers Stout - what yeast is best?

Since I live in South Australia (The home of Coopers) the freshness of the Coopers yeast is not an issue and I would recommend the use of the yeast that comes with the kit. I have not tried to use others but I doubt that I will be able to do better than the people at Coopers at selecting a...

HBT dictionary...or commonly misspelled brew terms

Hello all. I'm new here and I would like to add my two cents worth too. I agree that we should all accept the typographical errors and accept that Americans can't spell colour. I live in hope that we can dispose of the word transportation because transport is already a noun that will...

    New from Adelaide Hills

Hello all, I'm a born again home brewer. In my youth (read "poverty") I made some rudimentary beers in my Esky (ice box) by what I now know is the open fermentation method. The beer was not good but the price was right. :mug: Now I live on a little farm in South Australia and we are fairly...
