Safe to use CO2 regulator with solenoid? (help!)

Thanks all, I really appreciate the insight. I was just concerned since in my early days of brewing I've had a few bottle bombs and wasn't ready to re-live that experience on a larger scale. I'll just leave the solenoid on for now and use it plugged in since if I take it off, odds are I'll be on...

Safe to use CO2 regulator with solenoid? (help!)

Thanks for the reply, E. I guess my main concern (lack of knowledge) about the solenoid valve is that even though the output pressure is set to 20psi, it will continue to pump in co2. My reasoning is that because it's a thing I plug in to the wall, it's always "on" and doesn't function like a...

Safe to use CO2 regulator with solenoid? (help!)

Long story short, I have a co2 tank and regulator that I used to use when I had a planted aquarium. I no longer have that aquarium and would like to use the co2 tank and regulator for kegging since I just bought a keg not too long ago. The only thing is, the co2 regulator has a solenoid valve on...

no shipping. these things are massive, heavy, and will cost way too much to package and ship.

    Connecticut 4th year hop rhizomes

Hi all, for sale are two rhizomes that are going on to their 4th year this year. I have a Willamette and a Tettnanger. Last year they grew like crazy, shooting up more shoots than i can keep track of (although I snipped all but a few on each to support strong growth). Sadly, I don't have...

    whites lab yeast past expiration

That's nice that they sent you a fresh vial (as they should have), but still a little scummy that they have probably also sent out "old" yeast to others. You get what you pay for and I would expect fresh yeast. I like the idea of expired yeast for $2 though!

    priming sugars

I thought I read somewhere that priming with table sugar can produce a cidery twinge. I've only ever used corn sugar or DME though.

    Oak IPA

I strongly agree that 4 to 5 oz for a 5gallon batch is WAY too much. I made a similar beer to yours (in terms of IBU and alcohol) back in January and put 1.5 oz of medium roast cubes in 5 gallons. I let it sit in secondary for close to three months. The first beers from that batch tasted like an...
