Hey gang! Long time no post :) Been moving house for the last few months and my shop is STILL a-shambles. Got a few minutes this morning and turned something fun. This taphandle has what's called a "captive ring". The ring is turned in-place from the same piece of wood as the rest of the...
With a custom logo and painting, $75 does sound very reasonable. I know based on the amount of time I put into each handle, $50 is really taking a loss on them if I pay myself a reasonable hourly rate.
I don't know of anyone who's doing custom painting of handles.
9" is a nice size for a...
Thanks cyberpacker, that's very kind of you to say :)
The McMaster-Carr link posted above is exactly what I use. Homebrew shops sell the same items for 10 times the price.
If you want ferrules, check out Beer Avenue. They've got the best prices I've found.
As for price, depending on...
I suggest some of the fine vendors of taphandles right here on HBT :)
I specialize in exotic woods, and Spitfire does some beautiful acrylic ones. He hasn't been active in a month but you may be able to raise him via PM.
Check out my sig links if you'd like to see my work.

I believe that's the one I use for 1 and 2 liter plastic soda bottles. Great for when you can't bring glass to an event.
Or *ahem* when you want to bring it to work so it looks like Diet Coke :)

There are a few vendors here who make custom taphandles, me included. Check out Spitfire for some really cool acrylic ones.

I've met that vendor. He's a real jerk :)
You can see some of my work in this thread here. I'm currently running a special on in-stock handles.
Spitfire also makes some gorgeous tap handles from cast acrylic resin.
If you want to make them yourself, the easiest thing to do is get a...
As far as I know, all taps are 3/8"-16. The metal ferrules at the bottom are threaded 5/16"-18 on one side and 3/8"-16 on the other.
So to make your own taphandle, you want a 3/8"-16 threaded insert. Check out McMaster-Carr for 10-packs at a fantastic price. Less than $5 I think.
