I have had this issue before where the trub builds up on the sides. Solution, Just change out your collection ball another time. Yes you may lose a little bit of your beer but I'd rather do that than have all that extra trub get mixed in and ruin my beer. Swapping out the ball multiple times...

The $90 is definitely worth it. I have had mine for over a year and have done countless beers in it. So far I have had no issues with it being plastic. I do clean it after every brew to avoid leaching any flavors into future brews. I like it because it is almost everything you need in one...

False Bottom + Ball Valve + Copper Scrubbie = Holy crap! Why didn't I do this sooner?

Do you think it would be possible to not have a false bottom and only use the SS scrubbie?

    How much is boiled off?

Thanks for the input! If I do end up with less than I want after the boil, say like 9 gal for a 10 gal batch, is it ok to just add water so as to bring the volume back up to 10 gal before I ferment it?

    How much is boiled off?

What volume do you typically need to start at for a 10 gal batch so you actually have 10 gal after a 60 minute boil? what about for a 5 gal batch for 60 min?

    False bottoms & boil bags

Would it be practical to use a false bottom in your boil kettle to help keep all the hops sediment out when you transfer to the fermentor or would you be better off using a boil bag? I'm not sure about boil bags. I feel as though they might limit the hops as opposed to just putting them in the...

    Hello from Wisconsin

Hello from La Crosse! Agree with the book by John Palmer. Great book to learn from. I would add another bucket. "Ale Pale" It will help with primary fermentation. Gives you more room to work with than the glass carboy. (unless you have a blow off).

    Carboy/ Keg Cleaner Giveaway

Would love to have one. Definately looks like it works 100xs better than the brush I have.

    Mesh bags

I am wondering what you think might be better. Using a nylon mesh bag during the boil for my hops OR using a mesh bag placed over my fermentation bucket to strain out the hops and any other sediments after the boil? For the bucket one I would just pour my wort over the mesh filter so it goes...

What is the best way to Carb a keg?

In looking on various posts I've seen various methods to carbing a keg. I've never kegged beer before and I would like to keg my current beer thats fermenting now as I have aquired the equipment to do it. I'm just wondering what the best method would be? Force carb it with high PSI? It needs...
