    WYeast 1187 Ringwood Ale

Did a stout, OG 1.049, been in primary for 14 days, oxygenated with pure oxygen. Had several days (2 or 3) a bit to cold 60 or so when I was gone for the weekend. The rest of the time it has been at 68-72. Checked the gravity today and it was 1.018 which is 60% attenuation should be 68-72%...

    Explosive pours

OK, I took the beer off the gas and will vent the kegs for the next few days and report back.

    Explosive pours

OK, Keg air temp sensor is at 46, the poured beer is at 50, I do have a few air bubbles in the lines, maybe 10% of the line. I'm at a loss.

    Explosive pours

Ok sorry, the keg freezing incident was months ago, the fan fixed that. The frozen kegs are long since drank. :cross: I'm going to take a temp reading of the beer itself when I get home. I'm thinking maybe it is WAY colder than the 42 to 44 that my thermometer is reading in the fridge and...

    Explosive pours

OK, all great suggestions, but I do have a computer fan in the keg fridge hooked to an old cell phone DC adapter that runs all the time. The reason I put it in is because I was freezing kegs that only had a bit left in them. The fan seem to fix that issue. The temp prob is very close to the...

    Explosive pours

OK, I have a chest freezer and I keep it at 40 to 42 and 11-13 psi. I had 6' lines and I thought that was the problem. I got some new 12' lines, no good. The problem is that when I don't have a beer for a while (1-2 days) I get a explosive pour (95% head). I'm not the noob that has not read...

    Stainless shanks, worth it?

Yea I need to get some of the BLC. I think I will go with the SS ones unless someone can tell me why they are not worth the money. E

    Stainless shanks, worth it?

I already have Perlick taps, and you are right they are worth the extra bucks. My question is specifically about the SS shanks.

    Stainless shanks, worth it?

Took a few of my Perlick taps off to clean, and my shanks looked nasty, almost rusted or just discolored. I'm thinking of upgrading to all stainless shanks. The shanks I have are of unknown origin. I usually just run hot water through them after a keg and then get go back to beer when I have...

    co2 gasket

Can you find something like this at a hardware store, or will I have to get it at the gas supply place. Reason I ask is I would like one tomorrow, but not sure if any of the gas places are open.

Is 2 weeks fermentation enough for a light ale?

2 weeks should be fine for this beer, but the only way to know when fermentation is done is when the hydrometer reading stops going down.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

OK have a party this weekend and have a batch of Apfelwein (original recipe) that has been going for 41 days now. I would like to debut the Apfelwein. I will be kegging it and I took a gravity reading 2 days ago (1.004) and tonight (1.004 maybe creeping toward 1.003 but hard to tell). Now if...

would you use a 6G carboy as a primary?

If you use Fermacap-S you pretty much never have to worry about a blowoff. I have yet to have one with it. Up to a 1.090 beer. Fermcap-S Foam Inhibitor- 1 oz. :: Midwest Supplies Homebrewing and Winemaking Supplies Can get it at most online places, but here is a link.

First brew ever, a 10gal all grain.

LOL, took me a year to go from "On the stove extract" to 10g All-Grain, and I still have to have help cause I'm using one pot putting my mash into buckets and then back the pot that was heating the sparge water. Lot of lifting of 12+ gallons of water at some points. Congrats on the new setup...

    The no airlock fermentation

What I figured, but after 12 -15 batches I have never had one stopped this quick. Still gonna check it one more time in 48 hours, just in case, but if it has dropped at least .005 in that 48 I will leave it alone for my normal 2 weeks. I still would love to understand the science of the no...
