    More yeast or more sugar?

This thread pretty much answers exactly what I was asking. My second batch, a stout, was bottled a week ago, and has very low carbonation. Maybe I should just wait longer. If that doesn't solve the problem, what else can I do? The good news is that it tastes awesome.

My IPA is more like a Mild...

It sounds like maybe my recipe wasn't really what I expected it to be. Thanks for all the help, though. Now onto my next batch!

My IPA is more like a Mild...

So, you just pour an additional gallon of water over the grains and into the brewpot?

My IPA is more like a Mild...

I didn't sparge the grains after steeping. I was unaware of this practice, but if it will improve my brewing, I'll definitely look into it. What does it require?

My IPA is more like a Mild...

I'm a beginner, so I don't know exactly what you mean, but I'll try.... I steeped the grains for 20 minutes at about 160-170 degrees. Added the extract and bittering hops and brought to a boil. 55 minutes into the boil I added the finishing hops. Put into primary fermenter and added yeast...

My IPA is more like a Mild...

My first batch ever was supposed to be an IPA. It tastes good, but it tastes a little thin, more like an English Mild or something. Looking back, I found that my OG reading was supposed to be 1.05-1.055, but it was only 1.04. The FG was 1.012, which was about right. I have been going...

    Another Secondary Fermentation Question

Cool, thanks! I can wait longer, I had just heard conflicting information.

    Another Secondary Fermentation Question

It's been in there one week, so far. The airlock is bubbling pretty infrequently. I haven't timed it, but it is well over at least one minute between. I did take a SG reading at the time I was transferring to the carboy.

    Another Secondary Fermentation Question

This is my first batch of beer, and I don't know how to tell when secondary fermentation is complete. There is a layer of sediment at the bottom of the carboy, but I also dry hopped. Will that affect how long it should stay in the carboy? I have time this weekend to bottle the beer, but I...

    Airlock Mistake

Thanks for the additional information. I really went into this without knowing much of anything about brewing, which is why I did what I did. Anyway, it sounds like everything might turn out fine anyway!

    Airlock Mistake

Thanks for the response. I hope a silly mistake like that doesn't ruin the batch!

    Airlock Mistake

Hello. I am a first time brewer, and I forgot to partially fill the airlock. It was in, but there was no water in it. About 36 hours into the fermentation, I realized my mistake. It's bubbling nicely now that I have put in some water. I wondered what the effects of my oversight might have...
