How long are unmilled grains good for?

Thank you so much guys, I think I'm gonna give it a go. The grains were all in bags.

How long are unmilled grains good for?

I lost time for brewing due to the arrival of a tiny human and I might have some time to get back into it. I have unmilled grains I had previously purchased at the beginning of 2016 that have been stored in my basement. Chuck em and start fresh, or should they still be ok?

    Austin Homebrew Supply

I just ordered two all grain kits from them. I had been using another vendor which I was very happy with but their shipping rates just went up and I couldn't justify all the extra cost. I had ordered once from AHS in the past apparently because I had an account and order history with them...

Anyone go to Tap NY this year?

Anybody go and have anything memorable? I only stayed for about 2 hours on Sunday, just wanted to try the one-offs and things I can't usually get at Half Time. Cortland Beer had an RIS aged in bourbon barrels which was my favorite thing I tried. I don't think it's available in bottles, must...

    Small batch mead recipe suggestions

Hey guys, I've never made mead before but I have 3 lbs of honey leftover from a beer recipe so I thought that would be a good way to dabble in the meadmaking arts. I was thinking of a one gallon recipe using the 3 lbs of honey. I understand I need some sort of acid or tannin in the recipe for...

Love TSX anti-short cycle delay question

Hey guys, this issue was just brought to my attention in another thread and wanted to get some clarity on it. I'm using a TSX10140 to control my keezer. I have had it set with a setpoint of 38F and a differential of 1 degree. I'm learning now that this setup might cycle the compressor too...

Does wine fermentation look like beer fermentation?

Thanks for the reply. I took the cheesecloth off and put a lid on with an airlock and it is bubbling away vigorously so I'm confident it is fermenting well. I'm not really worried. And no, I'm not using any nutrients. Also, the bucket said just to warm it up and let it sit for three weeks...

Does wine fermentation look like beer fermentation?

Hey wine experts, new winemaker here. I've been doing beer for about 3 years now and decided to switch it up a bit. I got a 6 gallon pail of Chilean Malbec juice from the winemaking supply store. They guy there gave me a package a dry yeast to ferment it. I let the juice warm up to room...

    Weird question about keg carbonation

So I just got my new keezer up and running. I had a problem with the Love controller with a shorted probe causing, what I believe happened, the freezer to override the Love controller. The result was, my beer froze. I got everything thawed and back to proper temps. I have liquid temps of 38-40 F...

    Error Message with Love controller

Nah, the probe is just hangin in the air. I ended up pulling the controller out and taking the wires out and putting them back in and that seemed to do it. Weird because nothing was visibly shorted and the connections were tight. I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens :fro:

    Error Message with Love controller

I have a TSX-10140 controller my keezer. I just got it all set up about 3 days ago and it was going along just fine. I woke up this morning to the display reading "oo" which I understand is an error message for an open probe. Anybody ever get this? Any ideas on what's wrong? Will the controller...

TAP NY, Hunter Mtn NY Brew/Foodfest

DEFINITELY worth the trip. I've been going for the past few years and it's just awesome. They do a food theme every year, 2 years ago was sausage, last year was barbeque. I'm not sure what this year's theme is but all the food you can eat is included in admission.

    Keezer lid gasket

That does help. Ill try the liquid nails and caulk in the gaps. Thanks.

    Keezer lid gasket

For you guys who are attaching your freezer lids to your collars so the whole thing swings up off the freezer body, what are you using as a gasket? I tried two different types of weatherstripping and I either can't get the bend tight enough for the corners or I can't get it to stick to the...
