    Splitting liquid yeast

I had one pack of Kolsch 2565 2 weeks ago, and made a nice big starter for it. I split it into three mason jars and brewed three separate beers with them. I washed the yeast from each batch and have plenty for the 10 gallon batch i want to do this weekend. Worked well for me and saved lots of...

    Advice on Blueberry Hefeweizen

Worth a shot. Or as long as you fave a fine strainer it won't be an issue.

    Most Flexible Lager Yeasts?

I think i am going to target these temps: Doppelbock: 44-48 F Marzen: 48-52 F Light Lager: 46-50 F These are the middle of the road for temperature targets for Celebrator Dopplebock, Ayiner Oktober Fest-Marzen, and Harp Irish Lager out of the recipes in "Clone Brews." Sound like good...

    Advice on Blueberry Hefeweizen

Yeah, after thinking about it I would probably mash the blueberries up well and add them at flame out to ensure that wild yeast gets obliterated, then strain the 10 million blueberry seeds out before pitching.

    Advice on Blueberry Hefeweizen

Interesting, may I ask why? I have seen both arguments to this one. Obviously creating a blueberry puree will turn this hef 100% blue in color however you will get the best all around natural blueberry flavor into the end product. The high heat will also kill 100% of the wild yeast and...

    Most Flexible Lager Yeasts?

Sounds good I will likely brew a Marzen and Dopplebock for sure. Do you have the recipe around for your honey lager? Sounds tasty.

    Most Flexible Lager Yeasts?

Hello All As a way of deciding what beer to brew next I have been brewing three 1 Gallon batches of different beer using the same yeast. Then i scale up my favorite of the three to a 5 or 10 gallon batch. I have done this with American Ale 1056 and Kolsch 2065 and looking to pick a Lager...

    Advice on Blueberry Hefeweizen

I would boil frozen blueberries in a cup or two of water. Reduce the heck out of it and then strain well. Similar to how blueberry pancake syrup is made (1 part sugar, 4 parts blueberry) I would swap the sugar for 1/2 that amount of water. I actually just bought a 3 pound bag of frozen for $9...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

I I should have enough munich and Crystal 60 to get the color but at a higher gravity. One of the three in primary is a northern German alt so a dusseldorf using the same yeast and hops could be fun to taste the differences

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Just put 3 1 gallon batches into primary. What should I brew with this leftover hodgepodge of Pilsen, munich, 2 row pale, crystal 60l, kolsch yeast, random noble hops......
