Anyone Got a Thanksgiving Day Brew?

It's so 2006, but I've got a double red cranberry wheat baking. "Double red" b/c I used victory and honey malt which gave it a redness prior to adding the cranberries. Just racked into secondary onto bed of blanched cranberries--though I think I over blanched'em. Tastes intriguing...had to use...

Any tricks to using homegrown hops?

Right on, thanks for the tips! :mug: Just to clarify, don't need to do anything but dry them? I'm a big fan of BasicBrewingRadio and was planning on re-visiting the hops episodes on roadtrip we're taking today. I really have no idea how much weight (wet or dry) I'll have, so I'll...

Any tricks to using homegrown hops?

I tried the search feature but couldn't find anything just right.... I figure I'm a week or two from harvest of my first year hops. Cascade vine was from an old rhizome so that sucka produced abundantly! Others did pretty well considering. :ban: Anywho, maybe I'm missing something simple...

I just made the AHS Stone IPA mini-mash. That stuff is LIQUID GOLD!!!!!! :ban:

    austin HBS kits?

Technically they are PM as you use much less extract than their extract kits. ~1 quart versus ~1 gallon. I've contemplated the whole "no-rinsing" thing too...I decided that they (AHS) has devised a good, simple, and easy to brew system. Despite no-rinsing, I got really high efficiency with...

    question regarding adding hops

Maybe the AHS Belgian White kit is more complicated, but I've done a few AHS extract and mini-mash kits and the instructions included are usually pretty straightforward. They should have included everything you need (except for equipment). You can get additional sugars (alcohol boost) and...

    Beer Tools Pro

I just got BTP. I had only used the demos of Beersmith and Promash. So far I dig it. I'm looking forward to the proposed ability to upload to the internet Beertools.com website. I haven't exactly figured out the Hops utilization either. The different methods provide vastly different...

    DFH 60Min IPA Clone Review

Right on, I didn't mean hop utilization wasn't relevant, just that I'm aware of the issue when changing your water volumes and if anyone had success with a half-boil. From what little I know, doubling the hops sounds kinda reasonable. I'll check that website and I'll compare my past recipes...

    DFH 60Min IPA Clone Review

I've been wanting to give that recipe a try (and some of the others in that book). Do they lend themselves to a 2.5 gallon boil followed by a top-off to 5 g? I know, I know, hop utilization this and hop attenuation that, but has anyone tried it and/or modified the recipe for this method?

    IPA discussion and recipes?

Yeah there were almost too many threads on it. But thanks for the info, I'll do some sleuthing on HBT now that I'm bit more informed. ...though I guess I'm a little confused about people adding oak to the mix? Doesn't "fit" the IPA archetype but tastes good? Maybe I'm just itchy to try...

    IPA discussion and recipes?

I sat there for a minute trying to figure out which beer company starts with "ECO" :D I sure don't, I'm just an ECOlogist.

    IPA discussion and recipes?

Imperial IPA vs. American IPA. Differences? What about IPA's with oak? Are they in a different class? I just tried a darn tasty Dogfish Barton Burton and it got me thinking.

    Raleigh folks...

http://www.deh.enr.state.nc.us/ This would be a good place to start looking, but you may need to check with individual city govt. And if your buddy has a well, you're on your own.... maybe this too.... http://www.deh.enr.state.nc.us/pws/pws_data.htm

    Hops Pellets

welcome to the joy of homebrew! As with most things HB, you'll probably get as many different responses as you are willing to hear. Bottom-line: They'll settle out in your primary.
