Is $50 worth it - (chest freezer)

As somone who has dealt with huricane spoilage in fridges and freezers if meat/food spoiled and thawed in it can tell you, it is likley that the juices leaked out of the chamber and into the frame/ compressor area. If that is the case, the smell will always be with you to some degree.

7.2 cu ft Magic Chef Chest Freezer

I got one last April for 200 even when it was listed for 225. I just told the guy that I wanted it for that price and he said OK. Home Depot appliance guys have a little haggle room. I built a collar and outfitted it with two taps, with aspirartions for two more, though I do not think my...

    Fermenting a lager

Thanks guys. I pitched in the low 70's and let it sit for about 12 hours and the started cooling. I may have cooled too fast, so I will have to see if I stuck it next week.

    Fermenting a lager

I am working on my first lager and would like to know when I should drop the temperature? As soon as I pitch, or after I see obvious fermentation going on. I am using WL Southern German Lager yeast, and am going to throw this in my Keezer at around 45F.

    Oxidation?

I just did the same thing, extra long age in the fermenter, except that I was racking to the keg from a secondary, so I had not left it on the yeast. I had not issues with any bread flavors which I attribute to the secondary. I force carbed as well, and the first pulls taseted a little off...
