    Favorite Thing(s) about your LHBS

All great suggestions! I wish I could offer homebrew, but in Colorado you do have to have a liquor license to distribute alcohol :( I am thinking of trying something new called the "Local Homebrews Kits" where we have a homebrew comp and the top however many beers (haven't decided how many...

    Favorite Thing(s) about your LHBS

Doing some R&D trying to figure out what everyone likes most about there local homebrew stores. We try and offer up our knowledge, warm welcomes, and the best stock of supplies we can afford to carry, but sometimes that just isn't enough. What is that "extra mile" that YOUR LHBS offers to you...

    Stuck fermentation

Relax don't worry have a home brew! I'm sure you will be fine! First off don't aerate at this point, you don't want to oxygenate your beer after it has started fermenting. Secondly, it sounds like it might have gotten a bit cold if you are using a swamp cooler and ice to cool it down at this...

How much steel needed for brew rig?

Nice! We are located about a block and a half from them. We are working with the owners to start carrying Ska Brewing Ingredient Kits so if you like Ska beer keep an eye out around early March to grab one.

How much steel needed for brew rig?

I Think what I used was 1/16" walls. I can't say for a single tier stand that 1" would be the best as I don't have a single tier...all I can say is that I have had this stand for over 2 years now with MANY batches and double batches run through it with no worry at all. I don't have any casters...

    Root beer

I agree with adding a little at a time you can always make it sweeter. I also use the idea of starting with a 1 gallon batch and keeping track of percentages and turning it into a full 4 and a half gallon batch that the recipe calls for. Its all about creating something that you like that isn't...

How much steel needed for brew rig?

I pretty much "borrowed" the idea for the stand based off of Marty Tippin's post from way back. A Two-Tier Converted Keg Brewing System He has some good ideas and great plans drawn out for easy welding. And the 1" steel can hold 3 full kegs of water/wort/mash all at the same time while I do...

    Root beer

I don't think the extract is that bad personally and it's a lot faster. My thing is using cane sugar and not putting in as much as the extract recipe calls for. Make it to taste adding sugar in 1 cup quantities and it will be great. You can even add herbs or spices to change it a little for...

How much steel needed for brew rig?

Hey 1stTimer, I built a 2-tier system that use rougly 75' of 1" square steal tubing. I lucked out and got it for a-buck-a-foot through a friends shop. With the single tier I'm sure you could use less than that, but that is a ball park for ya. I'll attach a photo. Cheers
