Kegland Rapt Pill floating hydrometer temperature monitor

I assume then that suspended particles affect hydrometer same as my refractometer, because when I cross check with hydrometer reading is the same?

Kegland Rapt Pill floating hydrometer temperature monitor

@hotbeer No I'm just measuring the wort sample, post mash, post sparge, post boil and after filling fermenter. No late sugar additions. Mixing wine kits with water is a challenge to get an effective mix. But I'm seeing this issue with all grain brews.

Kegland Rapt Pill floating hydrometer temperature monitor

That's my question really, I need to mix it very well after it has cooled to get even measurements. Why would this occur if stratification can't occur in a well mixed fluid before the sample is taken? I do note using a clear fermenter that's conical for 95+ % of my brews that cold break does...

Kegland Rapt Pill floating hydrometer temperature monitor

Why can I get different gravity readings from the same sample pot when I take samples of wort. Using electronic refractometer and with the temp stable. Mixing the sample thoroughly ensures all of the readings are the same. If not mixed obvious differences between top and bottom of the sample?

Kegland Rapt Pill floating hydrometer temperature monitor

@pocketmon Reading through your most recent post, you mention gravity drop noted as temp falls prior to pitching the yeast. I suspect that this could be caused by wort stratification, the denser sugars will fall and the wort near the surface will be less dense. Once ferment starts gravity...

Can Cask Beer be Mimicked in something besides a Pin or Firkin?

@bwible Re mini kegs for ale extraction with beer engine. This is what you need. https://rlbs.ltd.uk/5-ltr-mini-keg-cask-read-ale-extractor-for-hand-pump.html I've heard the mini kegs can rust after a while, the stainless 4 litre kegs seem to work well if vented adequately. I was beaten to the...

    Handpump connection advice

Gas line diameter doesn't matter, provided it fits. Yes CO2 prolongs " cask" life but not true cask ale. Not sure about black mould, can't see how it could be inside regulator or lines unless contaminated. If on outside clean off with bleach etc. Do use a large diameter beer line though to your...

    spunding valve

Avoid the early style all metal with a gauge and wobbly twiddly bit on the end. If you do have or get one of these take the threaded twiddly bit out, add lots of PTFE tape so it becomes stable when you put it back in.

    Quick disconnects for EVA barrier

If you want a little more complexity you could attach bulkhead ball lock posts to the inside of your jockey box and then use ball lock connectors to attach / detach the towers. This would mean no liquid leaks when you disconnected. But I'd err towards the simple duotight or equivalent...

BrewPiLessGx: BrewPiLess with Touched TFT display

No idea with the esp32 and ADC. I felt it was all a bit slow with the 8266 and pressure, I've got the esp32 ready to build the system again for pressure.

    Lallemand Novalager yeast

I found it needed finings to get it really clear. But liked it's speed and usability.
