    Force carbing Sanke via recirculation

I recently made the transition from corny kegs to 50L sanke kegs at my UBrew, and I used to use a recirculating carbonator that would carbonate beer in about 30 minutes. I have removed the check ball and thomson valve from my coupler and have the system working with re-circulation inside a...

    Electric apple scratter

Thanks greg - I will take your word for it since last time I pressed was over a decade ago. Off to build I go.

    Electric apple scratter

I'm not an engineer either so I figured this forum would have something/someone that could answer. I had originally thought the same (in regards to power) although a high torque electric motor should do the same... I would love to have a commercial scratter; although my free one is an old...

    Electric apple scratter

Hello, I'm going to be rebuilding an apple scratter that I got for free (needs a new frame.) I happen to have an extra 1/4hp electric motor kicking abou tso I thought I would make my scratter electric and started my google foray. Why do most people slow the motor down? Is there an ideal...

    Nomenclature

Apfelwein is a hard cider, just german.

    Nomenclature

I also tend to agree that a drink made of lets say 80 - 90% apple, and some blackberries is a cider or a wine. I would tend to separate it by the brix: less than 20 Brix is a cider, 20 or more is a wine, although seeing as that is the ol' terms I guess there isn't such a thing - also some ciders...

    Nomenclature

I have been looking on the internet for some time with no luck so thought I would ask those that know more than I. I was wondering, since fermenters tend to have a term for every flavour addition, what are the different types of cider? I'm not referring to juice, concentrate, apple, etc. but...

    My eBIAB single-vessel build

Great build Ragtop. I like the idea of a stainless bag, although it makes my decision harder. I'm trying to decide on how to do my eBrewery build - BIAB or 2 pot. I currently do BIAB so I'm still mulling around with the idea. With such a thick mash you must sparge - how are you doing this with...

First AG Batch and Recipe - Advice Appreciated

Thanks SouthBay. I was under the impression that Irish Red Ales had a toasty flavour, but not nutty. I know this is splitting hairs but that is the beauty of AG right? Also I would worry that adding the caramel 80 with the carastan and roasted barley would be more like a nut brown ale than...

First AG Batch and Recipe - Advice Appreciated

Hullo fellow HBTs I am destined to start my first AG BIAB batch, so naturally I thought I would start it off with my own recipe. Now considering I am doing a 90 min mash and 90 min boil, with a 4.48L/kg ratio (~2.1qt/lbs for those less metrically inclined). I am lead to believe with my...

    Nitro style pour using argon

I know this thread is dead but I believe it is better to revive than start a new conversation so here I go: Out of interest has anyone tried the C25 vs carbing with CO2 then using pure argon? Also I mostly brew mead but happen to do enough beer that swmbo enjoys to have recently set up a...
