    Stuck sparge question

Well yea kindda what I thought too. It was stored in a cool dry place (I'm in Alaska, it's cool and dry here most of the time). I'm willing to give it a shot mixing it in with 2/3 fresher 2-row just sorta wondering if it could contribute to a stuck sparge.

    Stuck sparge question

Hey there folks, so after 2 years of all-grain brewing had my first stuck sparge over the weekend. I wanted to ask if it's feasible that old grain could have contributed to it. The story is a friend of mine had like 50 lbs of some 2-row she bought like 4 years ago (uncracked). So she gave it to...

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

So I admittedly haven't read all 130 pages of this thread, so don't jump on me if this was answered somewhere in there. I did skim the first 20 and the last 10 pages. :) Anywho, I'm fairly new to AG brews, and was wondering if there's a specific temp/volume to sparge with here since the...

    Liquid vs. Dry Malt Extract

Both very good points. I don't typically use liquid extract, more of a dry extract guy. I think I may just ditch the liquid and pickup some dme at my local homebrew shop.

    Liquid vs. Dry Malt Extract

So do you think that canned liquid malt wouldn't be good? I have this can and not real sure how old it is.

    Liquid vs. Dry Malt Extract

I did my normal routine of searching (and even waded through the first few pages of posts). If I overlooked the answer already, I apologize. Anywho, I have a can of liquid malt extract here and a recipe that calls for dry malt extract. Can the liquid be subbed in for the same amount of DME...

    Building a Mash Tun

Sorry, one more quick one then I'll let the thread die, hehe. I see in that other thread he had some problems with corrosion on his hose clamps, did you see this too, or managed to get SS ones?

    Building a Mash Tun

And how's the braided supply hose work for clarity/filtering? I was at a friend's place few weeks ago, and he has a nifty domed false bottom on his.

    Building a Mash Tun

Hi there folks, so I'm going to make the jump to all-grain, and been looking at some DIY guides on mash tuns. I found this one that I like: http://greenethumb.com/article/39/homebrewing-dyi-building-a-mashlauder-tun-out-of-a-water-cooler but I wanted to get some opinions on it. The whole...

Do I need a bottling bucket?

I wouldn't say you *need* one, but man do they make bottling way easier.

    Strawberry Wine: Batch #23

Awesome guys, thanks. That makes things way more clear for me. I like the idea of putting the fruit in a bag so it's easy to strain. I can imagine straining out the fruit can be troublesome.

    Strawberry Wine: Batch #23

So, I've never made a wine, I have however made a number of beers. So, am I correct in assuming that you don't slap an airlock on it while it ferments as you would a beer? I see it mentioned that one just needs to cover it and stir daily. And what's it mean to "punch down" the fruit? This...
