    Basement Buikld-out

We cleared 2/3 of the wall area and started applying a waterproof sealer, when we went to open the 2nd and 3rd cans LOL we found out they have been frozen and looked like glue instead of thick paint. Lowes is replacing the two and giving us a third at no cost for our trouble so I'm not going to...

    Basement Buikld-out

Since I've moved past the price issue, I thought I'd start a separate thread for the rest of the build out. SWMBO has finally agreed to start the build. I'm suspecting this is going to take a while to complete. Still laying out the design for the brew room, I can only get approximately 8 1/2...

    basement buildout - Pricey!

The back sump pump / well head area will be closed off from the brew room. I plan on putting tile on that wall separating the two. It's wide enough to allow for replacement of the water softener or pressure tank and access to the sump pit.

    basement buildout - Pricey!

LOL No doubt....yeah that's what he quoted me for the full buildout. Of course he was talking about a granite bar top, etc. which I would not want anyway.... I got a quote for 700+/- to switch out the electrical panel from 100 amp service in the basement to 200 amp. I don't have enough spares...

    basement buildout - Pricey!

Well we have finally started getting serious about the build out. I'm not paying 65k though. Here is a pdf of the basement layout as its exists today. The Utility Area for the well head and sump pump is not enclosed at this time, those are proposed walls along with the 13x11 brewing area. If...

    Wine stuck at 1

SWMBO wanted to try a wine kit, so I bought her one. First step getting wine into Carboy was easy. Second step was also easy reading was 1.010. However she's stuck at 1.00 now and the instructions call for the wine to be st .996 before adding the finning agents. She did move the carboy...

    Gas leak lost the keg

That room was no where near 85 degrees. My basement is a cool 61 degrees with my water coming in from the well at 54.

Water Quality Reverse Osmosis - Needed?

Any suggestion on where to get the water quality report for brewing?

    Gas leak lost the keg

I had the beer pump out the keg so it made a mess that I need to mop up, but luckily none went into the tank.

    basement buildout - Pricey!

The exhaust vent will be something that I'll have to have a contractor come in and take a look at. The BIL (Brother in Law) is a remodeler and although I'm not hiring him for the entire job (let's just say some things he doesn't do right) but he knows the basics and can do the things I can't or...
