I brewed the following version up on 02-21-16. I basically used parts of WiscoBrewer and Braufessor's recipes. It turned out really well. I can absolutely confirm that it is significantly better than current pseudo sue. The following is for a 9.5 gallon batch with 70% efficiency and a target of...
Sorry if this has already been addressed but how does the Original recipe give an OG of 1.083? Using Brewers friend, 12 lb of 2-row (with the same specialty grains) at 75% efficiency would give an OG of 1.087. Am I missing something?
Is that true about "enjoy by" being a 50/50 mix? I have only had it once or twice (no distribution to WI). But from what I remember, it was very much in the same vein as Psuedo and Zombie dust. You could also be correct about my impression of MO vs golden promise. However, you guys might be...
I totally disagree. Maris Otter will yield a completely different beer. Not saying it will be a bad beer, as many of my pales/IPAs/barley wines use maris otter. Just different. More body, more color, more of a "thick" mouth feel. Just my opinion though. Also, I would certainly lean towards DME...
Adaman05, I am in madison and would be game to do a group brew. I won't lie, I haven't been as blown away by psuedo lately and have stopped buying it. As such, I haven't been brewing the clone either. I'm assuming you would want to do a group attempt at this clone right?
I completely agree on both! I think they are rushing it out too fast as well. I also miss the haze...
Also, the heady is a different style to be fair. Just bigger and more complex on all fronts.
And yes, I'm open to a trade. Send me a PM if you have something I might be interested in! I...
I did a recipe with mosaic earlier this year. I think I posted the recipe in this thread. Turned out well, more subtle than the citra version. Wasn't a sousus for sure, I think you would want to up the body a bit more to achieve a better representation.
On a side note, I split my mosaic sue...
1272 yeast eh? Could be. I thought the S-04 was fairly close when fermented at a low temp.
I have not given this exact recipe a second run, but I would imagine that Adman05 is pretty darn close. I just picked up 2 fresh Sue's yesterday. Looking forward to trying it again. Probably going to...
I am hoping to get a bus / van rented out for Dark Lord Day 2014 leaving from Madison. This thread is just to see if there is enough interest for such a thing!
So, if you are going to DLD and would be interested, say so!
Cheers!
Yeah that could be it. I remember the beer being hazy like the growler picture above. The last batch (and the one I did the side by side with) really made me second guess the wheat. Regardless, I am going to reduce the wheat added. Also, this beer really needs to be drank fast! The mango and...
Alright here is what I did.
11 lbs 5 oz golden promise
9 oz crystal 20L
6 oz crystal 10L
9 oz white wheat
S-04 yeast with a 1.0L starter
Hops
1 oz FWH
.25 oz 10'
.75 oz 5'
2 oz 1'
2 oz hopstand at flameout - let cool to 180 ~15'
3 oz hopstand at 180-175 for 25'
2 oz dryhop - 7 days
2 oz...
I am going to be trying this clone in the next week or so (weather permitting). It has been awhile since I tried it last, but I have a feeling there is more wheat in the recipe. I think I will omit the dextrose and double the white wheat. I may also lower the Crystal addition a bit.
I am also a...
