Build versus buy if I have tons of parts already.

I don't brew much anymore because of the time commitment but I kind of want to buy the Spike Solo because I do brew a couple times a year and maybe I'd brew more if it were easier. I got to thinking though, I have kettles, pumps, fittings, false bottoms, hoses, sparge arms, chillers, so much...

    InkBird temperature controller stuck on

I replaced mine almost 4 years ago and it’s been working fine ever since. I also don’t leave it on all the time either now but rather just turn it on when I am fermenting something. It’s been running for the last 5 months though actually because we had a fridge die there is still stuff in it...

Kegs per 37cu 75/25 beer gas?

I thought I should add some conclusion to this thread. I re-taped all the threads and the regulator now holds air properly. I also tightened all the connections even though they seemed tight enough. I would turn the gas on to fill the regulator and then turn it off and leave it for a day, and...

Kegs per 37cu 75/25 beer gas?

I just put on a new tank and its filled to a little over 2300 PSI. I did just now find a leak though in the tank pressure gauge, now that I have a fresh tank on it. Its faint but there so I guess I'll take the regulator apart and Teflon tape it unless there is another approach that's better?

Kegs per 37cu 75/25 beer gas?

Hi, I seem to get very poor efficiency with my beer gas setup, I could swear that I have a leak somewhere because I am only getting 2-3 5 gallon kegs out of a 37cu tank. I've gotten to where I shut the tank off when I am not pouring and it seems to last longer than if I left it on which...

    Mixed Drinks on Tap

Im curious how much if any residual sugar is left in the wash and if it would be considered low-carb. Also curious what it tastes like, vodka and water just tastes like water but what does sugar wash taste like? I actually made one once and called it water wine because I was curious but that...

    Mixed Drinks on Tap

I've always wanted to try mixed drinks on tap and recently have started liking these hard seltzers as something simply refreshing. Sometimes I just don't want beer. When I first started kegging many years ago, I did try a small batch of vodka and kool-aid and it was actually pretty good...

Chilling time - 32 min to chill 10.5 gallons to 68 degrees

This is what I do now to get my 32 minute chill. That hydra would be well worth the money, If I could shave 17 minutes.

Chilling time - 32 min to chill 10.5 gallons to 68 degrees

@mongoose33 @wepeeler That Hydra looks cool, I wonder how it would do on a 10 gallon batch. Id love to get it down to 20-25 minutes. I mean 32 min isn't terrible but at the end of a long brew session, any time savings is appreciated. I go through a ton of ice too, usually about 3-4 bags...

Chilling time - 32 min to chill 10.5 gallons to 68 degrees

@Dave Sarber This is what I do, but I whirlpool at the same time so I don't need to move the chiller up and down. Prior to adding the pump I did manually move it up and down.

Chilling time - 32 min to chill 10.5 gallons to 68 degrees

It takes me roughly 32 minutes to chill 10.5 - 11 gallons to 68 degrees. I have an immersion chiller with 3/16" tubing (I think, pretty sure), and is about 45'ish feet long. It's 17 wraps around a corny keg and then add the inlets and outlets tall enough for a 20 gallon kettle. I use a pump...

    How long to nitrogenate stout?

It came out really good. I had two beers on tap, a Kolsch and the Nitro Stout, the Kolsch was the overall crowd pleaser and we kicked 10 gallons in a few hours. We didn't kick the Nitro surprisingly and I bet half the people that tried it thought it was flat :-). Of course the people that knew...
