Making a mash tun, need some advice...

I tried every washer I could find, and mine still leaked...until I bought one of these: http://www.austinhomebrew.com/product_info.php?cPath=178_33_82_89&products_id=10057 It has been fine since.

    Prison booze

Speaking of prison booze, check out this link: http://www.thesneeze.com/mt-archives/cat_steve_dont_eat_it.php If you have the time, read all of them. Very few web pages have made me actually laugh out load, but I was in pain after reading this. Vol. 8 deals with prison wine.

    Another Sanyo 4912 Question

I have this: http://morebeer.com/product.html?product_id=16388 I do not have pictures, but I screwed it into the top of the inside of the fridge. The screws go only into the "skin" on the inside. Seemed like alot of wasted space over the kegs, so this works very well for me. Easy access, yet...

Hi neighbor, borrow a cup of yeast?

I make the 3 hour trip to Austin, TX often to visit family. Invariably, I also stock up at AHS while I'm there. Last time, I bought enough ingredients for 3 batches, but I left the hops and yeast in the fridge at my grandparents house. I realized this half way home. I stopped in at a Brew Pub...

    The wife and brew day

I had to look twice to be sure I didn't post this. This is exactly like it is at my house. My wife is just happy brewing gets me out of the house. The way I see it, I liked the house the way we bought it. If she wants to change it, more power to her, but I'm not a big fan of painting and the...

    Kegging and Carbonation

Looks like a sound plan to me. You will have more sediment than you would have had if you used your co2 tank for carbing, but many people do it the way you are decribing. As for me, I just transfer from the secondary to the keg I just kicked and cleaned, and let it sit for a week at serving...

First all grain taste grainy/husky. What went wrong?

How long ago did you brew this? My first AG had that grainy taste when I transfered it to secondary, but it was gone a couple weeks later. Now it is very, very good.

How to keep braid from floating?

I don't have pictures, but what I did was attach a 3/8" barbed nipple to the other end of the braid, then used a threaded cap on the end of that. The braid stays put nicely.

    How clear is "clear"

Yes, I have tiny grain particles in my wort, but it has never adversely affected the beer.

    Mini Mash how-to

I would suggest ordering a mini-mash kit from www.austinhomebrew.com They come with excelent instructions, and quality ingrediants...and, no, I have no affiliation with them, I have just made a bunch of their kits. Or, look at this thread: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=23569

First AG in the Fermenter...Thanks for all of Your Help!

Did my first AG Friday. It was a Double Chocolate Stout. I could not have done it without all of the informative posts I have read here. My setup consisted of a mash tun made out of a rectangular cooler I already had, a 35 quart turkey fryer setup, and an immersion chiller. I must admit, the...

    Hello from Texas!

Thanks for the link. I, too was born in Austin, but moved to the Hill Country a few years ago. Austin is a great place, but I prefer living out here really. I am near Kerrville. Again, thank you for the welcome.
