I've bottled 2 batches so far. The first was a pilsner that is pretty good for my first go, just needs to be a little more clear in the cup but it tastes like a Coors original so I'm ok with that. My 2nd batch was a black raspberry wheat beer. Mainly for the wife for the fruit beer. I bottled 24...
I used a big Rubbermaid and put ice water with frozen gallon water jugs in it and stirred the wort. I had it down to 75 within 20-25 minutes. Substantially quicker than my first try. I found it's easier to cool in my boil kettle instead of my fermentation pale, metal cools quicker than plastic...
So its been 12 days fermenting and I just tested my first little bit with my wine thief. Tested at 1.010. Right on the money from my recipe sheet. It's gotta sit until Friday that's when I will bottle it. It tasted like beer and smelled like beer! Man am I excited to drink this stuff. I picked...
Started my first batch and it's going well.. Or so I assume. The airlock bounced around for a good 3 days and now it's stagnant and it's been 6 days since fermentation started or was put in the bucket. But my real question is; when I cleaned my brew pot it had some burn marks across the bottom...
All of New Belgium beers taste the same to me. I live 10 minutes from there Fort Collins brewery and they just all have the same flavor profile, some just have more hops than the others.
It's hard to chose a favorite in Ft Collins. FCB and Funkwerks are my go to besides Coopersmiths. My next beer is to mimick Coopersmiths not brown ale which is one of the best brown ales I've ever tasted.
Still reading and learning but I'm in the process of picking up brewing supplies. I'm just north of Fort Collins and know the local shops and how lucky I am. Hopefully will start by early spring as I getting promoted :D. Hope to meet some locals and learn a lot!
Joined up to start learning before I actually try my hand at this. I know I've got some good homebrew stores near me in Fort Collins. Hope to learn a lot and brew some good beer!
