Want to try some sour beers...

Churchkey is a fantastic beer place on 14th near Logan circle -- well worth the drive (or better yet, metro it and get sloppy) from Germantown. Their website appears to be down for the moment, but you can find info & beer list at www.churchkeydc.com

    Well Played, AHS...

haha, i think we now know the real reason that orders from AHS have been taking longer than normal to ship -- they're not backlogged from the anniversary sale, they're using our boxes as a sketch paper! love it. well played AHS, well played.

Home Depot Rubbermaid cooler conversion - bargainfittings.com question to MLT -

I got this one a few weeks back to convert my 10g HD rubbermaid: http://www.bargainfittings.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=47&product_id=85 the 1.5" standard nipple is a perfect fit.

    Bucket priming?

yes you can do that, if you replace the word 'bucket' with 'cornelius keg.' those bad boys are rated up to 150psi (IIRC), bottling buckets not so much...my guess is that the pressure would pop the lid off your bucket, all that co2 that your yeasties worked so hard to create will escape, and...

    Consecutive spoilage in same keg

you're disconnecting the gas to force carb? admittedly i'm a novice when it comes to kegging, but perhaps after that initial 30psi of gas is absorbed into the liquid the remaining pressure isn't enough to keep a tight seal on the lid?

    Kegerator Conversion: Frigidaire LFPH44M4LM

thanks to pericles for this build, i just finished it up earlier tonight and put my very first keg ever on tap. it was indeed straight forward, and someone with little mechanical talent (me) can easily do it. i covered the front door with chalkboard paint, so i can write what's in each tap (see...

    Assembling my Brew Equipment

impossible for some, though not all. i can get 7.5g to a pretty great rolling boil on my GE gas range (forget the number, but it's got the powerboil feature on the front-right burner). it completely depends on your stove. can you get your hands on a friend's large pot and try to bring 6.5g of...

yes churchkey churchKEY CHURCHKEY! hope you enjoy it. and yeah, it might be crowded with furloughed gov't workers, who have little better to do than drink their worries away. also, a bunch of area pubs/bars are running shutdown specials: http://www.rollcall.com/news/shutdown_drink_up-204749-1.html

+1 for Bamberg. Pretty cheap hotels from what I remember, and you can easily do a day-trip down to Munich on the train.

    Stuck Drain in Mash Tun

I've never had need to build a copper manifold with my setup (10g Rubbermaid, Flyguy's build and same SS hose as you MikeinCT). After a nasty stuck drain on my first AG I found that opening the drain slowly (like, painfully slowly) allows the grain bed to set and eventually I can make my way...
