American Wheat Beer Honey Balz Spring Wheat

CrookedTail, Going to try your recipe this weekend. I just love wheat beers. I see that you keg, but do you have any idea of how much priming sugar to add for bottling? Also, have you ever tried making it with DME? Thanks for posting, Dan

    Will it ever carbonate?

I did stir the beer after adding priming sugar. The closet is an inner closet and it does remain a constant 68 degrees. If I uncap and re-prime, how much in each bottle, and will this really help if the problem is with the bleach and jet dry? The beer is over 8 weeks old. It has been...

    Will it ever carbonate?

I know, RDWHAHB, but its hard to HAHB when they won't carb up. Bottled my first brew on 1/17/10, exactly 5 weeks ago, a wheat ale kit from The Home Brewer. Everything went fine, 2 weeks in the primary and 10 days in the secondary. OG and FG were right on according to instructions. Priming...

    Joke of the Day

A woman goes to the doctor, beaten black and blue. . . . . Doctor: "What happened?" Woman:" Doctor, I don't know what to do. Every time my husband comes home drunk he beats me to a pulp...." Doctor:"I have a real good medicine against that: When your husband comes home drunk, just take a glass...

    When to bottle Hefeweizen

Thanks guys. I also read somewhere on this forum that when racking to the bottling bucket you should swipe the racking cane on the bottom of the fermenting bucket once or twice to kick up some yeast. A good hefe should have some yeast chunks in it.

    When to bottle Hefeweizen

I'm on my third brew, a Hefeweizen kit from Home Brewers. My first brew, a Wheat Ale kit has been bottled and will be ready for tasting in about a week. (Boy, its been a long wait). My second brew, a Red Ale kit is in the primary for 3 weeks now, and I will be bottling next weekend. The...

    How high to fill bottles

I'm planning to bottle my first batch tomorrow. A wheat ale that spent 2 weeks in the primary and 1 week in the secondary. I will be using recycled Sam Adams bottles. I have a bottling bucket with wand. I assume I just fill them to about half way up the neck. Am I correct? Thanks, Dan

    Looking for a burner

That burner looks pretty powerful. At this point I'm just doing 5 gallon batches in a 30qt aluminum pot. Probably overkill, but I do need something bigger than my kitchen stove. It takes forever to bring 5 gallons of water to a boil, and loses the boil every time you wash the hops stuck to...

    Looking for a burner

I found this also. I don't have a problem fabricating a stand, but I'm unsure how to regulate the flame. Is it as simple as putting a ball valve in line or does it get more complicated than that? http://www.cpapc.com/store/23-Tip-Round-Nozzle-Jet-Burner-natural-gas-P469C0.aspx

    Looking for a burner

Brewed my second batch (Red Ale Kit) yesterday afternoon in the kitchen. Well, my wife gets home from work and gives me the “LOOK”. (Most married guys will know the look I’m talking about). I guess I better take this hobby to the garage in cold weather, and outside in nicer weather if I want...
