    raspberry rose hefe

The rose idea intrigues me. I run across wild rose hips while out fly-fishing quite often. I think i'll harvest and dry about a 1/4lb and try adding them as an aromatic in the last 15 minutes of a boil. I'm thinking that the flavor would go nice in an amber ale. Rose hip tea has a tart flavor...

I will drink no beer before it's time

As I sit and read this thread I have to laugh at my self. I'm sucking down a 10 day old hefeweizen that is going to be really good with some age. I just can't seem to wait before I crack the first bottle and sample it. On a related topic....for those of you who are kegging, do you just let...

    Natural gas to propane

Propane isn't "thicker" it's just used at a much higher pressure that NG. You'll need to swap out the orifice that feeds the gas to the burner and exchange the regulator over to handle the pressure of propane. You may also have to replace the gas valve. With propane you should have a clean blue...

    Belgian Wit Help Please

I'm drinking a belgian wit now that's in its prime. I used 1oz each of the coriander and bitter orange peel-both put in at flameout and allowed to steep for 20 minutes. When I make it again I'll use 1/2 oz each. This batch is good but just a little to spiced. Your recipe will work out fine...

    Help me save it's life!!

Thanks fella's This sounds encouraging. Perhaps all is well on the yeastern front?? In a rare moment of weakness I seem to have forgotten to "RDWHAHB". I especially liked hearing that many wheat styles have this taste early on. I will bottle it up and let it condition. I hope it will...

    Help me save it's life!!

I need some advise on "covering" the off flavor caused by exposure to light. The style is a light colored honey hefeweizen (srm 15). I have been putting my primary (glass carboy) in the wife's laundry room and draping a dark flannel shirt around it to block the light. (there's a 2'x3' window...

    Secondary Floaters...??

aeration wasn't a concern because the end of the siphon hose is at the bottom of the bucket. The actual straining only takes place when you gently lift the strainer bag out of the bucket. There is no more agitation than a regular siphon.

    Secondary Floaters...??

I just bottled an amber ale last night that had a bunch of these "floaters" you describe. They wouldn't hurt you if you drank them but they are certainly a distractor from the beer. Kinda like finding a bandaid in your cambells chicken noodle. My solution was simple enough...I boiled a super...
