Can you make Tortilla chips out of mash?

I know that Tortilla is made out of corn vs grain but I am curious if you can use the spent grains as a filler or possibly the whole chip, and have it come out tasting similar to a tortilla chip.

Do starters really make the beer better?

I am wondering if starters actually make better beer or if it may be overrated. If I have a healthy fermentation without a starter, will my results really be that different as with a starter? How does a starter make the beer better exactly? Do most nano/microbreweries use starters?

How far in advance do you make starter?

I have read about people who do this a day ahead, to 1-3 days to a week. I am curious on what you do and why you do it in your time frame.

How do I determine how much starter I need to use?

Thank you very much. I assume Beersmith 2 has this also, but can not find how to make it do the math for me in the yeast starter tab.

Does my yeast packet with built in starter, need a starter?

That is the pack I have. I see online others use a starter for these but others do not. I am caught in the middle. To start or not to start, that is the question.

How do I determine how much starter I need to use?

I would like to know how much starter to pitch depending on gallons being brewed. Do I use 3 times as much starter on a 15 gallon batch than a 5 gallon batch? Is it true I do not want to use starters on Hefe's due to the esters? Any other styles were starters are not desired? Do microbreweries...

    Can sealed water go bad?

My friend gave me on of those 5 gallon water cooler jugs. It is still sealed but he has had it for a year. It has been exposed to light, sun and hot temperature fluctuations in that year. Is there any thing I should worry about when brewing with this or just spend the $5 on a new jug.

How important is hot water when cleaning equipment?

I recently bought a utility sink only to find out I cannot get a hot water line to it. So If I go all cold (from the hose / water faucet coming off the house) is this going to be a big issue when doing my cleaning routine? I image the hot water breaks down the build up in bottles and has some...

Nanobrewerys selling clones as their own

I don't think anyone would brag about cloning if they are a brewer selling there own brews. I just see people out there working hard to make a signature brew, only to have others take there hard work, clone it and call it there own. But I think it may happen more than I am aware of. I understand...

Nanobrewerys selling clones as their own

He is passing them off as his own. He renamed them and everything. I was asking if I could get a recipe from him and he told me they were just clones he got online. I dont think it is public knowledge unless you press him for the details.

Nanobrewerys selling clones as their own

There is a nanobrewery in el centro here that is selling clones on tap as there own. They have switched some little things out here and there in there recipes but the brewmaster claims they are basically clones. Is this more common than I think? I understand this should be in probrewer but I...
