    aging your kegs?

I have had no problem with the 30 psi shake method and let them condition for a month or so. Will let you know how my porter tastes. It s been conditioning on the original 30 psi for 7 weeks. Tonight after work I am going to tap it and enjoy!!!!

    Help my beer sucks!

My buddy let me try his batch from the Mr. Beer Kit and it had an after taste just like you described. I couldnt enjoy the beer for the off unusual aftertaste. Then I did an AG blue moon and it had the same taste. I still have some and after three months the flavor never went away. Then it...

    First Crack at Labels

Just a suggestion with colors. The complimentary colors in art are correct for the blue and orange. Yellow compliments purple so I would make the red outer ring a darker shade of purple and see how that looks.

    Thoughts on this strawberry recipie?

You can split them up but I would purge the beer for a min. with co2. I soak my co2 hose in sanatizer and put into bottom of bucket and turn on slowly until you see bubbles. This will put a blanket on top of beer and you should be ok. If you dont have a co2 system then I am not sure if the...

The Mash or Boil Pumpkin Debate Continues

Do you think fermenting in the pumpkin added some flavor? I usually double the pumpkin and do half in mash and the other in the boil. Also save 1 tbs (I use about three or so)pumpkin in grain bag 15 min. into boil before end. Pumpkin is slightly present in the beer when conditioned at least 3...

    Thoughts on this strawberry recipie?

When I did a Raspberry Hellesbock the thing to know is it takes much longer in second and third carboys. Anticipate a few more weeks or more with the amount of fruit your adding. Be patient until it's ready to bottle. My first batch were gushers cause I really wanted to drink it asap and...

    Sam Adams Homebrew contest

Yea that sounds stupid huh? But what they are giving is just as stupid. I am glad I found this today. I was on the fence if I was gonna send out the beers today or not and now I know which side of the fence I am on. All I am saying is they could do better for the winner.

    Sam Adams Homebrew contest

I was gonna start a post to see if anyone was gonna do this contest. I did a quick search and found this thread already in action. I felt the same way that 5 grand is low for what they will make. One part of me wants to send in one of my beers just to see what happens. The other agrees that...

First AG in the fermenter. holy cow...

That is the kind of brew day that will make that beer unbelievable in a month. We have all had sessions go nuts but I am impressed with your focus to not go HOSTEL.

    Dry-hopping with whole hops...

I am so used to glass. I sorda feel that its better for the quality and taste of the beer to atleast use glass for secondary. I agree, a bucket would be easier yet so would using pellets.

    Dry-hopping with whole hops...

Pellets would no doubt make this easier. I think some just prefer the whole hops over pellets. Not sure why I choose the more difficult whole hops just like them rather than the pellets which remind me of hamster pellets.

    Dry-hopping with whole hops...

Here is what I do: I use multiple bags to hold smaller amount of hops. Sanatize bags and pre cut strings. Fill bags w/ enough hops to enter and exit carboy. I also add a few pieces of oak chips in bag and tie them with string. On my IPA's I have had 6 to 8 bags. Some will sit on top so...
