    Help please

I had a problem with my burner in the middle of my boil and had to switch to my stove top. I cannot get my wort chiller in to sanitize it for last 15 min of boil.(hood fan) My question is can I just spray the chiller down with iodophor or will there be an undesireable reaction with the copper? Do you need to "convert" a chest freezer?

This is probably a stupid question, but how do you regulate the temp. on a chest freezer to use it for kegs? Can you just set a temp. for above freezing, or is there something you have to do to it so it works like a fridge?I found one on sale, but I wanted to know if I needed anything else to...

    re-racking on yeast cake

I've got a question about saving the yeast cake over night before I pitch. I have a steam beer going right now w/ wyeast 2112. Can I bottle the previous night and just keep the cake in bucket in my basement which is in low 50's now? Then bring back up to main part of house to get it back up in...

    BG higher then OG?

What temp did you take readings at? Hydrometers are calibrated for 60 or 70 degreesF If one was hot and the other cold that would be the difference.

    Substituting Coopers Yeast

I had this problem once but I think the beer was infected. It was also a coopers lager but only 1 bottle out of the batch. I remember that it opened w/ no sign of being carbonated and tasted like card board. I drank it anyway and was rewarded wiyh a stomach ache in the middle of the nite.

    warped MLT

I just did my first all grain today. All went well. When I was cleaning up I saw that my cooler had a warp in it. I searched Fly Guys post and saw that a few others had this problem. My questions are does this happen often? Should I try to return this or is it normal? And lastly will it...

    Forgot about the starter

I have a question about a yeast starter that I made about 8pm EST on Sunday. It showed no activity until last night Monday. This morning it has a slight krausen that is getting bigger. I used a farmed yeast( Londan Ale ) to start it. I have to brew this later today around 1 or so. My question is...

    Remove Labels with Ammonia

I use 1 cup to 4 gallons water. Let soak over night and peel lables scrub with scrub pad and rinse with hot water. Some lables a lot easier than others. Sam Adams and bud ale real easy.

Yeast cultured from Bell's Pale Ale

A little off toppic but I just did my first yeast starter and followed directions from Palmers How To Brew. It said to make a starter of 1 pint H2O and 1/2 cup of DME. Is this a typo in book as everything that I have read since starts out with 1 quart of starter, even the rest of his references...

What does oxidized beer taste like?

How long are you letting the beer bottle condition for? It sounds like a green beer taste to me. Or maybe if you are using corn sugar instead of malt added to a kit. Need more details of your brew tecniques.

    Growing Yeast w/ Dry Yeast...

I am currently searching to see if I could ranch off a cake from a beer I made with dry yeast. I thought that I had read somewhere that you should not harvest off a cake made from dry yeast but I have not found a definative answer. Can anyone tell me yes or no. Thanks Rob

    Battle of the Bottles

Sam Adams bottles, lots of people drink them, so they are easy to find. Also Bud Ale is a good beer to drink and also good bottles for home brew. I was very suprised about the quality of Bud Ale.
