Sierra Nevada clone is showing weird yeast inconsistency

I did a proportional split from a single container. I didn't dunk it, but I did rinse the container with sanitized cooled water. I guess you're right-I should just taste them. Thanks!

    BIAB Brewing (with pics)

I do BIAB in a 15 gal pot. I don't sparge. I take the bag out after the mash is done and place it (quickly) in a strainer that's suspended over my plastic bucket primary. Let it drip dry, then take a binder clip or something similar and twist the bag and clip it to pull more liquid out. You can...

I should mention that this was done as a BIAB all-grain...

Sierra Nevada clone is showing weird yeast inconsistency

Hello! I'm doing a 10gal batch of Nierra Sevada (from this recipe) and everything on brew day went smoothly, although I went a little light on mash water because I had to physically move my brew pot and didn't want to kill myself, so I ended with 9.0gal instead of 10gal. My OG was: 1.044...

First label I've ever had made

It's actually a riff off BoingBoing, who almost certainly stole it from Phat Phree. The background is actually quite subtle as printed...the inks are less saturated than in the psd. Thanks for the feedback!

First label I've ever had made

A designer friend at work gladly traded a sixpack of my new kinda-pliny-clone (still pending in the secondary, he's quite trusting) for this label: I really couldn't be happier. For anyone not already fond of making fun of hipsters, this is the inspiration Let's hope the beer turns out...

Kinda Pliny Clone - huge gravity drop

OK, that's good to know! I used a 2 liter starter with: -2 cups LDME -1 smack pack of 1056 and I aerated the living hell out of it for a good 18 hours, then pitched it. This is also my first yeast starter, so I'm not sure what to expect from that, either.

Kinda Pliny Clone - huge gravity drop

My only thought is that the honey this recipe calls for assumes some standard type of honey, and the type I used was a really nice local batch with a milder flavor. Could a stronger honey explain it?

Kinda Pliny Clone - huge gravity drop

Heya, This is my first recipe post! Huzzah! I just transferred my Kinda Pliny Clone to the secondary, and it's really pretty amazing. It tastes wonderful, the fermentation happened super quickly thanks to a 1/2 gallon starter, and the color should be great when it clears up. Other...

    Hello from Brooklyn!

Hey there, My name is Sam and I live in Brooklyn and I've been brewing with a friend of mine down the street, and boy is it addictive. I can't get enough! I've been lurking for awhile, but finally have something to post - been working on an imperial IPA, a "kinda pliny clone" from this recipe...
