    Building mash tun...questions.

Thanks! I saw your picture as I was tooling around on here before I posts my question--very impressive setup! I will post a pic when I build it.

    Building mash tun...questions.

Thanks! If I'm doing five gallon batches, would the 48 quart cooler be too big? Is the grain bed deep enough for a five gallon batch?

    Building mash tun...questions.

I'm looking to build my own mash tun. I have the "Brew Ware" book and looking to use their plans with a rectangular cooler (probably around 32 qts) with a CPVC manifold. 1. Is this a good mash tun design? 2. If so, is there a recommended cooler? Is Rubbermaid better than Coleman? Does it...

Assuming cullensage's 5 gallons brings the total to 9908.5, my 5 gallons of Belgian wit gets to 9913.5.

    Hefe I brewed last saturday.

I brewed a hefe a few weeks ago--my krausen lasted much longer than with any of my other beers. I think the carapils in it (which helps with head retention) is the cause. But I may be completely wrong here.

    Good Kit for New Brewer

I got the autumn amber kit--it turned out great. Also, highly recommend "How to Brew" by John Palmer--I read it before I did anything and it was a huge help.
