Should I send my heating element back?

Thanks, everyone. I appreciate your informed comments. :)

Should I send my heating element back?

I received two heating elements in the mail today from TheElectricBrewery.com, both are the 5500W ULWD ripple. On one of them, where the element wraps around and comes back toward the base, it touches the other side of the element (see photo below). Is this bad? Should I have them send me...

    My keggle polishing project

Reviving an old thread because I'm currently in the process of trying to get a mirror-like finish on my keggles. I'm finding that my angle grinder produces a lot of black and grey marks all over the keggle when I'm sanding and polishing. Does anyone know what causes this or how to avoid it? It...

    Weissbier Crop Circle Wheat Clone

It went pretty well. I ended up going 60% German wheat, 40% German pilsen, 1 oz. Hallertau leaf, and Wyeast 3068. Had an OG of 1.054 and FG of 1.016. I kegged and forced-carbonated it, and it tasted fantastic on the first night it was ready. Since then, though, it's strangely tasted a little...

    Weissbier Crop Circle Wheat Clone

So, I wasn't able to get the Dane's yeast in time. But I just noticed this...you recommend 2 smack packs for 5 gallons? Or was that because your batch was 10 gallons?

    Weissbier Crop Circle Wheat Clone

So a pale 2-row...sounds good. How about the Munich? Was there a certain type you used/recommend? I'm actually trying to get some of the yeast that the Dane uses. I talked to the brewer at Hilldale today and he said that he could give me some in about 9 days after fermentation has completed...

    Weissbier Crop Circle Wheat Clone

Thank you for your quick reply! May I ask what you mean by "Pale 2-row (Belgian)" and "Munich"? I could find pale Belgian malt and pale 2-row, but not pale 2-row Belgian. Munich also appears to apply to a number of different grain types from what I'm finding. Thanks for the tip on the blow-off...

    Weissbier Crop Circle Wheat Clone

Reviving a dead thread again. :) Is this an all-grain recipe? Sorry, noob here. I'm planning on brewing a Crop Circle Wheat clone this weekend, all grain (my first), and this recipe sounds promising.

How to: Build The BEST Mash Tun from a Beverage Cooler

Ha, yes I am. Thank you for responding so quickly. Funny thing, I actually did see that washer earlier, but it says 1/2" and doesn't give any other dimensions, so I didn't think that it was it. Got it now!

How to: Build The BEST Mash Tun from a Beverage Cooler

Fantastic video. Thank you for putting it together! Sorry to revive an old thread, but can you tell me where you got the SS washer size 15/16" ID, 1.5" OD? I didn't find one on any of the websites you listed, nor did I find one on about a million other sites I checked.

Looking for a New Glarus Thumbprint IIPA clone (or similar) recipe

Dan Carey (the brewmaster at New Glarus) was at the Great Taste of the Midwest this past weekend. I didn't even think about asking him about this, but I should have. He may not have been willing to divulge anything beyond that which is posted on the website, but it would have been worth a shot. :o

    my Frigidaire LFPH44M4LB conversion/build

I'm not going to post every step, because repomanz did an excellent job at that already. I'm just going to point out of a couple of things that I did differently in my (almost) final product. I opted to use the existing screw holes and screw down the lid into those with longer screws. This...
