Back in the 90's my class reviewed a case study as part of an Industrial engineering major. A particular huge brewery would determine which container was most appropriate for their product(s) based on the quality of the beer. The beer which was determined to be ideal was kegged, almost ideal...
It seems there is absolutely no significant federal enforcement on the home brewing limit - similar to how the feds now enforce (or don't enforce) marijuana sales in CA. That said, I am surprised there doesn't seem to be any significant state enforcement outside of states which still keep their...
Using google, I am unable to locate the instance referred above. Is there an article which details the enforcement?
I did not find any article for any Alabamian(s) selling homebrew or going over state or federal home beer production limit(s). Although, is it legal to homebrew in Alabama?
When I have used this exact fly method you mentioned, I noticed what seemed to be channeling between the keggle wall and the grain bed. Needless to say my query is directed to fly spargers. If I use a similar screen as the false bottom for the top of the grain bed, I can potentially accentuate...
I also use the TE-3-MD-HC as a pump for all my needs. The electric motor brushes are not exposed (TE=totally enclosed). Therefore, splashes and etc don't get into the motor. I picked up mine on ebay for $120.00 shipped. If you aren't in a hurry these types of deals pop up every few months...
I just saw this thread regarding a cheap false bottom and an interesting idea spawned:
Mod this $20.00 stainless oxo splatter screen slightly to sit on top of the grain bed keggle MLTs just prior to vorlauf. Then, vorlauf and sparge with almost no attention to disturbing the grain bed...
No worries about lagering in your fermenter (plastic pale). It's definitely more important to just lager it, than to worry about the container type (plastic, glass, primary fermenter, etc).
Enjoy!
I'm a DWHAHB type. After I dump the yeast starter and cooled aerated wort in my sanke, I carboy cap, airlock, and move it to it's temporary location. It sits for at least two weeks before I consider sampling and hydrometer. I don't get fixated by airlock activity or lack thereof. I'd like to...
How does atmospheric air get into a shaken fermenting vessel sealed with an airlock? Doesn't shaking a fermenting vessel release even more C02 from suspension, ensuring more C02 release through the airlock? Doesn't this additional release of C02 prevent suction through the air lock?
I just...
