    making up another brew tonight. and drinking a bunch of homebrew. and managing some wine too. tonights brew: oktoberfest style based on coopers extract and some malt of some kind amber i think. yay!

    Bottling Today...question...

    i figured the same thing as Torchiest. dumped the stuff in there flaming hot and figured 'ah screw it so a few yeasties bite it but there are plenty more where they came from'. the strongest survive, right? or is it the ones at the bottom of the bucket that dont get fried with the hot liquid...

    i have used muntons, edme, john bull, and coopers. none were bad and edme was my favorite

    How many of you quit experimenting after you found "it."

    i like to brew around. life is too short to stick with just one. maybe repeat some of the better ones though i really liked the edme red ale and plan on making another batch of that at some point

    yeah sounds to me like he added some sugar then just sort of let the brew sit. the priming sugar should be added when you are actually ready to do the bottling. when you add the priming sugar, the clock is sort of ticking to get the brew in the bottles.

    but wouldnt the cap pop off before the whole bottle exploded? sure thats still a mighty bottle geyser but maybe a little better than a bottle fragmentation grenade. i would think the cap would be the weak point right?

    did a little brewing tonight myself. a steam style. got the recipe at the local shop. my first time using whole grain steeping and hops. went real smooth and smelled great. heres what it ended up looking like. just after pitching

    threw together some red ale of some kind tonight. used a fancy white labs yeast. seems to be way low on the hydrometer though. 1030 and the can says should be up in the 50's. used 2 pounds of LME. it will be ok im sure. ill just relax and have a brew or 7. also, bottled our latest dry beer...
