    Everything has gone wrong!!!

It was two jars of LME and one big package of DME. And I poured the extra water at the same time as I cooled it. There was a bunch of stirring and whipping and shaking that went on while it was in the ice bath in an attempt to cool it down fast enough, so I'm pretty sure I mixed the extra water...

    Beer Bread Using Trub/Yeast Cake

I know this is an old post, but I actually did this yesterday. The bread came out okay, the hops give it a pronounced bitter flavor that I think could be offset with honey or fennel. Here is how I made it: I let the yeast cake settle. Then, I poured the liquid off, and tossed about a cup and...

    Everything has gone wrong!!!

The OG was straight from my hydrometer, maybe I actually had two pounds of DME? Regardless, I only boiled three gallons of water, I added two more gallons of water after the boil for a total volume of five gallons. I took the gravity reading after adding the extra water... Flavoring a Belgian Ale

I made a Belgian Ale a while back, and tossed in some banana slices, and a vanilla bean that I had split down the middle (along with about a half-cup of extra corn syrup.) The final product was really good. Just be careful not to boil the bananas too long, I guess you can release pectin into...

Because I wasn't sure how much I lost when I accidentally siphoned a bunch out, I primed by pouring 1 tsp of sugar water into each bottle instead of pouring a cup of sugar water into the carboy. (I only ended up using about a...

    Everything has gone wrong!!!

Hey folks, this is my third beer... and I think I'm doing a test to see how many things you can do wrong before you ruin a beer! Brew day went great. (I'm trying to make a Belgian Golden Strong Ale) 1 pound DME (CBW Pilsen) 2 pounds LME (CBW Pilsen) 2 pounds corn sugar 2 ounces...

    Show Us Your Label

My second homebrew, and second label. This is a belgian dubbel with a little extra corn syrup... I couldn't get the FG down to where I wanted it, so the ABV is actually a little low for a Belgian Dubbel, but it tastes really good, so I guess I don't care. I'm learning...

Not studying it now, but I did for about four years. I did Hebrew as well as some other Ancient Semitic languages. From what I can tell, beer played a pretty big role in ancient Babylonian society!

    Show Us Your Label

My first label for my first Homebrew. I'm a big browns fan, so this just made sense to me... Oh, and Shikaru is the Akkadian (ancient Babylon) word for Beer... The symbol under Shikaru is how you write Shikaru in Akkadian.
