    Electrical Primer for Brewers

The reason why I used the general wiring table versus the chassis table was to keep it simple. I dare not assume that the vast majority here know the difference between different insulator types and how they affect current rating. My logic was that if they followed the general wiring / power...

    Electrical Primer for Brewers

No worries man, if its a new concept and can be difficult to get your head around it. Lets call the two hots L1 and L2 then the Neutral. if you measure voltage from L1 to L2 you will read 240V. To make it easier to understand, we'll treat it like a DC circuit, forget the AC stuff for now...

HOW TO: Wire an Auber SYL-2362A2 PID for a Fridge

Nope, thats how the original thermostat in the freezer works. Only difference is you'll be doing it at a different temperature.

Temperature Monitoring and Control with Arduino

Nice boil kettles and mashtuns, dont see any copper fermenters though.

    Money!!!

Well, the best bit of advice I can offer is to quit counting :) I've had to acquire my stuff slowly over time. Start simple and get something working and then go from there.

So you've moved up to management then? :drunk: j/k

Is this the right kind of GFCI?

They wont cancel each other out. I dont remember seeing anything in the NEC that says you cant either. From the people Ive talked to they seem to me prone to nuisance trips, but their problem may have been a poor connection on the gfci, they are prone to that. Think about it this way. All...

Is this the right kind of GFCI?

You can buy a 60A GFCI spa panel for the same price as that little gizmo. The reason why you need a contactor for that thing is because it only has a single pole contact. Once a ground fault is detected (the net flux going through the current sensor is not equal to 0) it opens or closes it's...

    Let's talk dc motor control

yeah, three phase is preferred because there is virtually no slip in the motor, tons of torque. With the VFD you can change the frequency of the AC wave form wich translates to spindle speed. That and you get nearly 100% power even at the lower speeds. There's a dozen ways to skin this cat...

    Let's talk dc motor control

Does it need to be DC? If so you're looking at large DC servos and servo controllers. If these are for Mills and Lathes, look into some small 3 phase motors. 3phase motors and you can find single phase in three phase out drives like these VFD

    My FULL-ON electric build thread

I'd be interested in seeing how the ultra sonic transducer works out. In my experience they can be a little sensitive to steam vapors.

Need help with my electrical diagram!!!

Gabrew, I think Auber is great. However, I think you have an honest gripe if the SSR manufacturer listed on his site does not match the ones you received. I'd send them an email stating as such and you would have bought what appears to be the same SSR else where had you known. That said, did...

HOW TO: Wire an Auber SYL-2362A2 PID for a Fridge

What kind of temperature probe are you using? Type K thermocouple, RTD pt100, etc etc? Is the controller mounted in the freezer door? You shouldnt be having a problem reading in the 20s. Its confusing as to why you would get a temp rise if you shut the freezer door.

Is it worth going elecrtic right away?

Plug a lamp or something into the outlet you want to use and turn it on. go over the to breaker and start flipping the breakers that say 20 and 15. Once the lamp turns off you found that circuit. Take note of that breakers rating. rinse and repeat for the second circuit.

    Electrical Primer for Brewers

Good to have yah 941MxVet and welcome to the board! I'm a systems integrator for the fresh and waste water industry myself. Sure you don't want to try a coal fired brewery? Guess that would be like me using methane from a solid waste digester. pass... :)
